Quickbooks Training Classes, CPA's???

My daughter needs to learn Quickbooks to aid in her job search.
Any suggestions on training courses for her?

Quickbooks is extremely easy to learn. They sell a tutorial (put out by Intuit) that you can buy at Office Depot and that would be a good start. I'm sure there are many weekend courses that are available at some adult schools or junior college as well.

If you are familiar with accounting, you will master Quickbooks in just a day or so, if you are completely new to accounting, it may take a little longer but is still very easy to learn. Even the main menu is very intuitive and walks you thru every process.

Yup, pony up $40. Find a college text book and use it to model setting up a company and doing all the transactions. If I was interviewing and I saw someone had that kind of initiative, I'd hire them.

BIG ditto to what steve said. for bookkeeping work of course.

I did an interview for a client that runs maybe $7m/yr through a group of restaurants and the bookkeeper needs to know MAYBE 10% of what qbks does. BUT I did test her on it.

She needs to KNOW how to do bank recs (and adjustments to balance are NOT bank recs) and she needs to understand debit/credit/journal entries. Colleges would do SO well to use the hell outta this software.

though for our clients i could care less if somebody knows how to work every little facet of that bloated piece of software. it's gold, but the nugget is burried beneath so much crap it's getting hard to recommend to clients. alas Peachtree is Satan's own invention so there is no other real choice.

One more thing....there are different versions of Quickbooks (i.e., desktop and online) and they are different. The online version is a scaled down version and may take some getting used to if switching from a desktop version & vice versa.

Not to mention that the online version does not support any inventory function.

Later versions of QB have hours worth of excellent video tutorials built right in to the software. Go to the Help pull down menu and look for "Learning Center Tutorials."

You don't mention whether or not she has any accounting background or not. Someone with accounting experience can be up and running in QB in no time. It usually takes me two, two hour training sessions to get a non-accounting type with a small service business to be functional with the basics of QB. Training is definitely my favorite part of what I do... it's fun to see the lights start coming on when folks begin to "get it."
