Does that mean you're getting ready for college bills??????? That was how it played out for me...........Kept the house in the divorce, so paid her some of the equity for 5 yrs + child support.....Child support for 14 yrs and 4 yrs college bills.......It was all worth it, my daughter is now 30 and gone back to grad school....Even calls me once or twice a year........

Yes, but I will be giving that money to him (or directly to the school). I have no problem helping him with his needs. It will feel a lot better knowing that the money I am forking out goes to him 100%. It is also a relief to be able to choose to give him money rather than have it taken like it has been for the last 16 1/2 years. This has never been about the money, it is about perception of where the money ends up.

Agreed. I've watched my ex take the child support and also the agreed spousal support that was supposed to help her transition to being economically independent from me and piss it away on stupid real estate investments that tanked and generally avoiding getting a real job. I have no problem supporting my kids, one is in college now, the other will be in the fall. It's supporting her after the divorce that has been very hard to watch without complaining.

I have 6 and 8 years left. The support payments killed me the first couple years. I transitioned to a sales job, and she was getting just about all of my based take home pay. Since commissions were heavily front and back weighted during the year, summers were miserable. I agree with the above statements, that I have no issue at all supporting my kids. It is knowing that the $$'s that are supposed to be going to kid related things, were being used for having her lawn cut by a service, having th house cleaned, and then till crying poor and constantly *****ing.
I will happily support the kids directly if and when they need it. been saving for their college and such. Every month is a month closer to that end date of payments to her. It is a diminishing curve for her, and an increasing one for me.
