sniper...of course I did them. I get them semi inletted and I finish the action and barrel fitting, bedding and do all the finish work. They are pretty rough when I get them. A shadow of the finished product.

Let me get this right, you made those stocks? Wow, effing Wow. I have the talent of a ditch digger compared to you, scratch that, I have less than the talent of a ditch digger compared to you.

No don't be so impressed. They come to me roughed out. I have to finish them. It's a raw piece of wood in the shape of a stock with pilot holes for where everything goes. I have to fit all the parts by filing the wood to make it all go in there. Then I finish off the factory shaping and sand the whole thing to the proper tolerances and final wood finish. Then I finish sand it , stain it and seal it with a variety of finishes. You can bed everything with resin before or after you shoot it to check for accuracy. You CAN buy them finished though and the components just drop in. They are more money of course and you don't get the same satisfaction of doing it just the way you want it. They still should be bedded so everything stays lined up right.

Thanks for the comps though. I do restorations on old SXS shotguns. Rifles are for fun. I'll send you some pics of a couple restorations if you like. That is what I do best.

OK, Jeff wins. I've been lusting after a No.1 for a while.

I smoked my first 'dog with a .25-06. Good times. Next time will be with the .308 AR I'm working on. I know, "a bit much". So?

I want to finger tip crawl up to them and blast them with my P7.

I guess this would be my varmint gun by default...

With optimal 70gr ballistic tip match grade ammo and proper magnified optics i bet it would do at least 250 meters vs small critters. Of course i own neither optimal 70gr ballistic tip match grade ammo nor magnified optics.

But if i did...

101rds of prairie dog blasting fun.

You have indeed...and they work as advertised

The 1903 dropped a GH at 400yds last fall. The gun is more accurate than I am.

Need to get Sniper up for a shoot at your place. April?

Yeah that thing is smokin' accurate. It's a good one. How do you like the CZ? Depends on the weather if it rains a lot the range and Bob's farm are a quagmire. we will get it together for sure in either April or May.

Fits me well, comes up really nice. Sight lines are very intuitive and the weight and balance are excellent, at least for me. We hunted Doves with it but it was a little unfair. That is why I like the O/U .410 so much.

Big kick for a .16 gauge...once you get used to it all is well. It is really instructive to shoot the Browning A5 and then switch to the CZ!

Doves with a 16? Unfair? Ya think? I have found most 16's kick like a mule. My French 16, choked full/fuller only weighs 5 lbs. is like shooting a 12 ga. Almost uncomfortable. If you want to develop a flinch, shoot that one for a while. Still like it though...hey ..it's French!

I like my #1's. Something kind of "right" about a single shot varmint rifle, too.

Here is the whole collection of current #1's. The custom .220 Swift, a Light Sporter in .30-'06, and two Tropical Rifles, one in .375 H&H and the other in .458 Winchester Magnum:

NOW yer talkin'. For no good reason I have developed an affinity for .458 diameter bullets. I've been keeping my eyes open for a No. 1 in .458 Win Mag but haven't had much luck yet.
