Hambone is still complaining and throwing his crew under the bus for deciding on the second pit stop. His whinig on the radio was unprofessional and he is still talking about it in interviews with the press.
I wonder how long it will be before they return the favor? But hey, he can still brag about being the fastest street racer around ........................... |

I find it ironic that the same people who are Hamilton haters seem to love Alonso....who has eventually thrown every team he's ever been on under the bus and pretty much can't speak without complaining.
I understand why Hamilton is upset. It was a bad strategy that probably cost him the race. He got screwed by traffic in Q2 and was making it up during the race. But it did seem like the right strategy at the moment. Everyone is still learning about super-heavy cars that don't need to stop for fuel. It seems to be that even stopping for tires beyond the required stops costs too much time.

I'm a huge Hamilton fan, and I agree that he shouldn't have said what he said publicly.
He should have taken his issue up with Martin privately, after the race. On the plus side, he really, really wants to win again this year. He feels he has a competitive car again and wants to use it. His drive from 11th to 3rd was some balls-to-the-wall racing. Too bad Weber tried to pull a boneheaded move.

Hammy needs to man up all round..
JB makes his own calls and lives and dies by them.. (athough not immune from giving the team grief in public...in the past).. Hammy has proven that he is not yet experienced enough to reliably make his own calls (not surprising really) so he relies on the team...but he choses to do so because they make the right call more often than not...they have been at this a whole lot longer than Hammy...and with 'better drivers'... On this one the call was right at the time...and I believe it was the right choice... If LH had continued his tyres amy not have lasted as well as Massa's or FA's.. he is to date one of the more demanding drivers... So imagine he was third.. challenging the Renault.. wearing them out more and more...not getting past... the Ferrari's behind... even when LH realises that second was not going to happen he would still have had fast Ferraris behind him.. challenging for 2nd.. and LH would have defended, placing more stress on his tyres..which puncture and he gets a DNF..not quite so good...(China anyone.. LH saying not to a team call...off when coming in..) Whether LH likes it or not his driving style rewards being demanding...he is fast, aggressive and a very good racer...but he will need to adapt to the new tyres and ask less of them in order to maximise his talent.. or have a car so fast that he can pull out a clear pitstop on his rivals...not unknown. JB might not be the balls out racer all the time.. but he uses his big head more often than his little one... ![]()

That procession for the final 1/4 of the race - in the dry - was painful to watch. FAIL.

By the second race, it's obvious Hamilton is no longer McLaren's Goldenboy. He's lost his daddy and Ron Dennis. Whitmarsh was responsible in signing Button, so make your own decision on the new heirarchy at Woking.
Good race though, I love the damp races. I thought Massa did a damn fine job to podium again after his accident. Good on him. Vettel seems to have Raikkonen's luck... Granted there was no significant passing at the end of the race (other than Webber's spearing of Hamilton), but it was certainly entertaining to watch Hamilton catch up to Alonso. Or Massa's attempts to catch up to Kubica/stay in front of Alonso. How many times was Massa sideways? Or Alonso's concern regarding Hamilton rapidly closing in on him, such as when he told Domenicalli over the radio that he no longer wanted updates on Hamilton's position behind him.

The tires are still an unknown at the actual race tracks with the new fuel loads. Those first three could have just as easily had their tires go way off or fail and LH would have walked away with the win. The team put their drivers on different strategies for the good of the team. It is a team sport after all.

I'm not sure this is true. He had the track to himself for a good bit in the beginning. There was traffic on the track on his last try, but it didn't appear to me that the traffic was an issue as they gave him plenty of room. Traffic was the excuse he gave the interviewer after Q2, but then so does most of the guys after they miss the cut.
It was an entertaining race compared to Borhain, but doubt Macca could have gone away with a 1-2 finish. Jense probably could have run the whole race on one set of tires the way he was driving. |

I'm afraid you guys are correct... during the rain the race was great. Once it dried, we got back to a snooze fest in terms of passing... I think the next race will be boring if dry, but Malaysia is rarely dry ;-)
Still, Kubica second ? Alonso from last to 4th ? (and not really trying to pass Massa, hmmm) JB getting a win before Hamilton ? All good fun ! I also admit I like watching Vettel pout - best car, good drivers, yet 2 bad results for Red bull... I still think Vettel's gonna take the crown this year though, if he makes no mistakes and the team stops giving him defective cars! |
