This is an announce that the Government plans to issue a call against an existing Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for Breast Implants. Suppliers of this product may submit offers for evaluation for the award of subsequent BPAs however a submission will have no impact on this pending call.

WTF? Why would the US Navy be buying breast implants?

This is bizarre to say the least.

I can give them the benefit of the doubt and hope they are for re-constructive surgery after breast cancer or battle wounds.

They are probably for members of Congress and their families.

Navy trying to keep up with the Air Force women?

Story: She posed for Playboy and was then discharged from the USAF.

This article is about purely cosmetic surgeries. I've done some quick searching and found other stuff about the military doing reconstructive breast implants after mastectomies.

At the end of the day, the issue is sort of funny, but pretty irrelevant on a dollars and cents basis.

I'm leaning towards re-constructive surgery too. Keep in mind that it was a BPA (Blanket Purchase Agreement) which would imply that they only wanted to have an agreement in place and not actually purchased the implants......which still makes no sense to me.

I guess Seahawk will have to chime in to save the Navy on this one.

I think they are fake because they are all out of order and its rare to get a defense distinguished service medal. ( maybe I mistook it to be a DDSM)

If it's for re-constructive surgery for veterans then all good.

I'm an ex medic Australian Army. I saw some pretty awful injuries in my time.

It will need a sea story:

I was flying down to Andros Island in the Bahamas...there is an instrumented undersea range there in a place called the Tongue of the Ocean, 1000 fathoms. We were headed down to test some new Anti-sub gear and had range time with an LA Class boat.

We would usually stop at NAS Mayport (right hear Jax) for the night.

It was a summer day in Fla so all the line folks (the young kids who direct you to park on the ramp) were in white tee shirts. All were wearing cranials and goggles.

It was apparent that our young line person was a woman, a very well put together woman. Helo rotor wash is a wonderful equalizer...we didn't, uh, have to use our imagination at all.

As we shut down and applied the rotor brake, she stepped back and began to take off her cranial, as she did so shoulder length blond hair cascaded out...she leaned back and gathered her hair in a quick pony tail, smiling at us.

She was beautiful. Naturally so. I opened my door and she came, looking up at me with the bluest eyes, searching, gazing into mine like....

Anyway...there is not such beast as elective or cosmetic surgery in any of the services that is not the result of injury in the line of duty.

Carry on.

Is "opened my door" some kind of Navy slang or euphemism? Or did she just come when you...errrr....ahhhh...opened your door

When I got out of the USAF as an E-5 (a long time ago) I had exactly 2 ribbons...

That is no sea story. A sea story starts out, "Now this is no bullschit"
