CCW Class
Yes, I know I'm taking a CCW class in a state that does not permit CCW...
Some observations: -The class has 11 instructors for 20 students. I believe they are all volunteer. -One instructor is retired FBI and a retired lawyer. He handles mostly the legal aspects. -One instructor is a Cook County Sheriff's Deputy. He says that he teaches the class to maintain his faith in people. -On instructor is a smokin' hot late 20 / early 30 something female. I suspect she might be related to one of the other instructors. I always seem to end up with her as my instructor. -Many of the class members are from Chicago-area police departments. More than one has expressed the idea that safety instruction at their PD is lacking. -I apparently shoot with a Weaver stance. I'm told this is unusual and rarely taught anymore.

I thought Illinois allowed concealed carry but not open?
edit: ah. security, PIs and special circumstances. Looks like Illinois is one of those states that has previous knowledge of when crimes are going to be committed . . .

Illinois allows no form of carry whatsoever.

Of course not. It's illegal.

I prefer weaver stance myself, for many reasons. I'm not a big isosceles guy.

Agreed.
For one thing i like the idea of my arm and my thigh providing natural armor for my chest and my nuts. In isosceles your ding dong is swinging directly in the line of fire, completely unprotected. F all that. Weaver is also more stable (especially if you rest your inner bicep on your chest), and allows for isometric pressure to be applied to steady the spoon. Isosceles does not. The only advantage i see to isosceles is that it allows a turret action, which could be handy vs multiple short range targets. In all other ways i prefer Weaver. |

I would think Weaver presents a smaller target. Of course, in Snipes case, the target with Isosceles is minuscule. Such is the exception to the rule (winking smiley face thing goes here).

Weaver does provide the smaller (and more "armored") target as well.

Oh, but wait...it's illegal to carry a concealed weapon on a military base. Nevermind. And of course, violent crime NEVER happens in the wealthy/nice parts of town. Never! ![]() |

yea so yer able to conceal carry in indiana and wisc...once u cross the border heeh.
i was told by rangemaster at willow slough in indiana that, as a IL resident, the possession of a pistol in indiana was not totally legal. however if i were to get a CCW, then it would be ok. so what are u gonna do with yer CCW permit other than show off the piece of paper? :P |

Vancouver crowned break-in capital of North America Last Updated: Friday, December 14, 2007 | 11:49 AM PT CBC News A new report has given Vancouver a dubious honour: the highest break-in rate of all major Canadian and American cities, nearly four times that of New York City. Last year, Vancouver recorded more than 1,100 break-ins per 100,000 residents while New York City had just over 300. ODDJOB
Those legs washing up are just gang related criminals, so really no big deal, so how many people have you shot so far, ever miss and hit somebody else, you ever evan pull your gun? Do you CCW cause your nuts are tiny and your afraid all the time, ie: chicken *****? Of course there is crime everywhere, even in the rich areas, I don't live there but we have 2 BFS (big Fing Shepards) and the wife has a black belt, plus we are surrounded by stay at home neighbours, the home front is safe and we don't go anywhere where there is a chance of trouble, if it happens then some body gets an a$$ kicking, I've lived on my street for 25 years and there has only been one B&E The Vancouver area is large but the city of Vancouver is small and it contains China town , the lower East side and Skid row so that stat really doesn't reflect the whole pic and if you read the story we have few violent crimes cause no one CCW, its the BC Bud that brings the crime and talk of decriminalizing is just talk but if it were to happen than I'm sure there would be a drop in the stat that reflects organized crime |
