As far as Facebook, I guess if people want to do that, post up a bunch of personal stuff on the internet (which will be there forever, not subject to real deletion or future control by the poster), that's ok.

But to expect it to be or remain private, not given to advertisers, being accessed by who-knows-who, and someday likely being accessed by lots of people . . . well that's just being silly.

I don't really have expectations of privacy with that info. Where I draw the line is when their system starts sending messages on my behalf to people in my network without initiation/action on my part. At that point, I unplug from the borg.

I don't have a pressing business/professional need for FB, so, it was never something that I considered using. PPBBS is as close to social networking as I can take.
