Oddjob and other old gun gurus, help please.
Can anyone identify this maker?
![]() I'm thinking about acquiring this cap lock shotgun, but I don't have a clue what it's worth and can't quite make out the mark to research further. Thanks in advance. |

Not more than $200...check the bores to see if they are bright and shiny..with no major dents in the barrels. that the action and trgger work properly..if it is a sound gun there is nothing wrong with using black powder to go out and shoot the dam thing.
This is another one of the Killion cheap Db shotguns made in the 19th century...most by obscure makers some of whom built guns that had fancy names to make them appear to be quality pieces...

Yup, tabs is right on. So is targa911S. Some of these were dangerous to shoot when new; a hundred and fifty years of age and rust seldom makes them safer.

Thanks all. That's about what I was figuring. I knew there were a ton of cheap POS guns from that era, just wanted to make sure this didn't happen to be something special. I'm gonna pass, the owner thinks it's worth more than it is anyway...
Again, thanks, it's amazing the kind of response one can get from this forum. |

TABS,
Help me out on this one. I know it has been years, but has the value of this type of spoon truly gone up? We would not have given $100.00 for that shotgun. I could be wrong, but most issues with these old guns is when people try and put too much powder in them or do not use old fashioned black powder. Modern powder just has too much power for these old spoons. People also tend to think, 20 grains? Why not 60 or 100? Let's give it a try! But I do agree, old black powder spoons are not as safe and quality/workmanship could be very spotty.

It is always amazing to me that so few people understand what exactly is the number one most important function any firearm needs to perform.
