Spoiler... for those of you who want to watch the reruns...
by: MSulka on Jun 13, 2010 - 09:10 AM 2010 Le Mans 24: Final Race Results - Audi Wins! Sweeps Podium! By Mike Sulka In front of 238,850 fans, the most unpredictable of results have been unveiled as Audi have won the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans and swept the overall podium! The victory is the ninth time in 11 years that Audi have won the Le Mans 24. This year the top honors went to the No 9 Audi Sport North America-Audi R15 TDI LMP1 entry who completed a record number of laps with 396. The previous distance record was set back in 1971 with a total of 392 laps/5335.313. Even with the ninth victory by Audi, Porsche has the all-time record of Le Mans 24 victories. Allan McNish said of the victory, "The race come down to reliability, we've all won it (Peugeot, Oreca and Audi), so I know the highs and lows. I feel very sorry for Oreca but also somewhat relieved, as it took pressure off our car." McNish referencing the faster cars of Peugeot who swept the top four positions during qualifying, but all four failed to finish the race. Coming home second was the No 8 Audi Sport Team Joest-Audi R15 TDI LMP1 entry with the No 7 Team Joest Audi filling out the podium. In LMP2, Strakka Racing and their HPD ARX.01 led the entire distance as they easily won their class by 6 laps. In LMGT2, Team Felbermayr Proton-Porsche 997 GT3 RSR won in by a lap over the Hankook Team Farnbacher-Ferrari F430 GT after a tough early fight with the Corvette Racing teams. The GT2 winner beat the GT1 winner -Larbre Competition-Saleen S7R by 7 laps. ------------------------ Nice to see a GT3 on top...
