Let's talk Silverstone

First the new Silverstone track looks great.
Next, after listening to Hambone and Boootton, you would think they were the only ones to watch in the championship. What a couple of arrogant clowns.

Let's start a poll:
Who will tear up first.
Hamster or Fred, we know they will both whine about something, the question is "which sniveling little wanker will cry first?"

My money as usual is on the driver who has had the pace of the field all year, Vettel.

Who knows... not many conservative drivers at the head of the pack this year.
All I know is that I should have bought stock in the company that makes Petrov's body parts. It seems like that guy has lost a ridiculous number of noses and tails.

Oh the irony! Fred gets a drive-through, and the whole grid is bunched-up.

Also, didn't I see someone blow by the safety car like Hamilton did last week?

Nice to see Nico do well. He has his old man teammate covered this year.

Why can't they build a smooth track surface?

The clown was as usual the jerk from Spain, doing nothing but complaining then getting caught with the illegal passing maneuver. Funny to see that even in a good car he is still not as fast as Hamilton...

Then we have various comments on the radio by a couple of drivers that just floor me. The have a clearly faster car and should be a better driver, yet they waste lap after lap behind a "also ran" car. Then they get on the radio and complain that they were being held up.

I long for the days when a driver just got on with it and passed the slower car and did not have to try to blame things on someone else...

Finally the new track is an absolute POS! The new sections did nothing to help passing as was intended and come-on, for as much money as they poured into it they cannot get it smooth? Bet that the new bump joining the additions is shaved away before the next race...

It does take a year or two for a track to "settle-in". The problem with the new section is that it is still settling, while the old section has settled--so one segment is moving while the other isn't much. The existence of the "hump" at the transition from the old to new sections didn't surprise me much. It will get better from here.

...

I can't help but think that Red Bull are imploding from within this season. It's really too bad too. Up until this season, they were the definition of the like-able underdog. Vettel and Webber always managed to pull off a few wins despite not having the best car (I'm not saying it was bad, either--it was just clearly a step or two behind McLaren/Ferrari/Braun). Now, this season, they clearly have the dominant car, and have managed to lose races because of bone-headed moves....mostly on each other. Webber put the moves on Vettel from the start and squeezed him, forcing him to fight Hamilton and ultimately suffer a puncture. (I still don't think Vettel and Hamilton made contact. Vettel doesn't think so. Hamilton doesn't think so either.) It seems clear at this point that Vettel and Webber are at war with each other.

That's what I want to see. Racers racing. No team orders, just two fast guys trying to be the fastest.
I still believe Red Bull is the car and the team to beat. Racing is close and the season is only half over.
Fred had an easy opportunity to just give up a spot immediately then continue to race with Kubica but either Ferrari or Fred had a brain fart and didn't see the big picture.

"Where did you get the race car? It's a Ferrari baby.
Where did you get the Ferrari? Fred
Where's Fred
Fred is dead baby
or at least his career is."

I though that that was a good race. Sure the top stayed the same after the first couple of turns but the mid-pack was the interesting bit to watch. Some good overtaking & some mistakes but entertaining overall. And you are right legion, Red Bull are imploding to some degree which adds nicely to the drama.

So where are the tin-foil hat wearing ferrari conspiracy guys now?

Maybe Alonso needs to spend some more time in the sun.

As far as I'm concerned, the Ferrari favoritism left with Max Mosley.

Jean Todt seems to be much more even-handed.

And having an actual driver in the Steward's box seems to help alleviate the "red blindness".

Did you actually watch it!!!! Vettel tried to squeeze Weber into the wall. Little prick knew he got a sh$t start. Even the commentators saw through that. Webber was clearly accelerating faster than Vettel, as was Hamilton.

I'll go back and re-watch it.

I was going on my impressions of the start. I've had a few margaritas since then.

Most of the F1 websites are saying the same thing:

"Vettel squeezed Webber hard as the Australian made the best start but Webber said afterwards it hadn’t been a concern"

It was great to see Webber hand it to Vettell. Especially seeing as he had to give Vettel his new front wing AND he was using Vettel's old 'broken' chassis!

The only thing I regret is that Webber made the comment about "Not bad for a No.2 driver". He should have kept that to himself and let his results speak for him instead.

After the treatment he had the last couple of days in his pits, it would have been hard.

Am not a fan of Webber but he drove a good race and deserved it.
