Builders here started painting the ceilings same as the walls about 10 years ago. They did it because it was trendy and cheaper. White ceilings are classic and will never go out of style.

Said kingsized bed is a water bed, correct? Otherwise, it simply isn't sophistocated enough.

Shouldn't there also be a white polar bear rug complete with growling head placed at a 36 degree angle to the door atop of the mauve rug - to add a touch of contrast to the floor?

Query: with the mirrored ceiling, does a disco ball work, or is it just best to bounce the colored motion lights off the ceiling? Would a smoke machine be too over-the-top?

White.

Although if the room is big enough, a little splash of color can be a nice effect.

To answer an obviously rhetorical question, of course.

Otherwise, it simply isn't sophistocated enough.

Yes; if the depths of sophistication are to be plumbed (ignore double entendre) in the master bedroom, that concept must properly massaged and go deep enough. Which of course brings up the question of the mistress bedroom, i.e., should the kingsized waterbed be heart-shaped? Or would that be thinking outside of the box (ignore double entendre)?

Shouldn't there also be a white polar bear rug complete with growling head placed at a 36 degree angle to the door atop of the mauve rug - to add a touch of contrast to the floor?

Well, you certainly are a sophisticate! I like that angle, however, it would probably be lost on an obtuse bedmate. Perhaps a 105 degree angle would be a more comprehensive choice if bedmates are numerous and tend to vary in their levels of sophistication.

Of course one must not lose sight of the fact that, whatever angle is chosen, it is imperative that the growling polar bear head still menacingly threatens the big duck on the beadspread. If one decides to go faux, these are available at finer stores:

As in the pic, a fireplace is always a nice touch also. And, if one's secretary is a long term bedmate, a tasteful desk ought to be considered, for, as Confucius say, "Secretary not permanent fixture until screwed on desk".

Query: with the mirrored ceiling, does a disco ball work, or is it just best to bounce the colored motion lights off the ceiling?

Excellent question! But not an easy one to answer. While either is effective, if one has used mirrored tiles as opposed to large glass mirrors on the ceiling, their slightest misalignment will cause the appearance of wildly multi-faceted bedmates - which may or may not be exciting to one or both (or, hahaha, more) bedmates. Also to be considered is that such an effect can cause epileptic siezures in some, which also may or may not be exciting to one or both (or, hahaha, more) bedmates. If you have disco balls this effect can be more intense (some men say, if you don't have disco balls you don't deserve to be in the bedroom).

Would a smoke machine be too over-the-top?

Oh, I think not...especially if one has a medical marijuana card to legally enable its proper fueling.

We painted most of the ceilings in our home with color. Some the same as walls, others contrast. Wifes idea, looks good, but we're "non-conformist"

I'm a white ceiling guy, but then our house only has 8' ceilings so I want it as bright as possible.

All walls and ceilings should be white. I wouldn't be able to stop painting if I allowed anything else in the house. I don't care about interior design as long as I don't need to do any work ...

She can hang pictures and move furniture by herself. Painting, not so much. Hence the rule. Colored walls? Time to hand in your man card. Colored ceilings? May not even have had a man card.

White ceiling makes the ceiling feel lower. Darker makes it feel higher.

Negative Ghostrider. Dark rooms make it smaller.
