I think Monopan has some acoustic as well as thermal properties. It is translucent so the porch will still feel like a porch, and it is very light-weight. I'm picturing placing the full height panel on one side of the porch, maybe a small return "L" if wanting to turn the corner.

Also get a background White-Noise generator.

Consider doubling the panel with an airspace in between. May want to cap the ends to prevent spiders from making a home in there. I would still weep them however to prevent condensation.

Oh! I like the idea of the reactive armor wall, but you'd need to decorate it with a large, crudely drawn picture of Mo-Mad.

Update: Mission Accomplished

Anti-Terrorist Wall Installed & Tested

It cuts down 80% of the noise. Although I think I insulted him with it. He was really quiet for 2 weeks. Now he is back to normal. And now we can enjoy our porch too.

1/2 plywood. 3 x 24" louvered doors. Primer. Paint.

Monopan looks cool, but I doubt it would hold up well against UV in the south unfortunately.

I'm talking deep south... Texas, southern New Mexico, Arizona, California desert type sun. Paint and polycarbonate headlight shredding sun.

Believe it or not, I didn't connect those dots.

I was just finishing the job. It actually seems much brighter even though we dropped that open space.

Too bad... I was formulating and idea... weave bacon together... like the lattice pattern the do with pastry on top of a pie. Then bake until hard and crispy, let cool, then glue them like tile to a sheet of plywood.

Sounds like the Israelis who used to work next door to my dad's office. They were the only two offices in the building with a 3rd floor balcony that was shared. My dad would have a smoke with them from time to time, but they were really loud, and always had "clients" over smoking and drinking tea. My dad's a nice guy, so he asked them once to try and keep it down, but they ignored him. Just about the time he had had enough and was going to go to management, their office got raided by the FBI for some kind of fraud, and they didn't take the patio furniture that belonged to the Israelis. So my dad's got a nicely furnished smoking patio to himself, since the new tenants (4 middle-aged black women attorneys) next door have never even opened the door to the balcony.

Anyway, nice looking wall.

Just curious, what country is your neighbor from?

If you're serious about his terror ties, you must report him to CSIS or RCMP

In jest, of course. He is Palestinian. He imports dates. It seems to involve a lot of yelling into the cell. And rental trucks.

Nice job, and tasteful. I feel bad for your neighbor in his line of business. With all that yelling, it must be hard to get many dates...

I feel for you I had a similar experience with a neighbour in London.Long storey but he started it. I got back at him by cutting up a project car with an air chisel under his dining room window . Stopped at 10:59 PM ( noise law) or when I felt like it. Then sold the house and moved. Toronto real estate market is still selling .Maybe you should move to a place with more sideyard while you can? 2 out of last 4 neighbours being a PITA is high in my book. The neighbourhood does look nice and tidy ,things could be worse.

We will wait him out.

The house next door just sold in 5 days. It was bid over list - just shy of 500K.
