Any downside to an XD?

Thinking about getting a 9mm XD Subcompact. I'm taking a class in the fall and will be able to take that cert and get my CCW when I turn 21. I shot my uncles and found it to be comfortable and I was pretty damn good with it cosidering it was my first time with a 9mm.

Now where is the best deal?

Springfield Armory Hand Guns (Pistols) springfield xd pistol, xd 9801sp06,-xdpistols.com

That doesn't look bad....

That's the tactical package. Includes holster, a mag pouch and a mag loader. Do you need to carry 3 mags?

Get it here for $470 delivered.

Springfield XD9801SP06 9MM 3IN BLK 10R PKG for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $470.00

Just the weapon without the holster, mag pouch etc... $439 delivered.

Springfield 9mm 3" SUBCMPT ESSENTIAL for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $439.00

Just made a purchase from Buds last month. Was not sure on their rep, asked the PPOT braintrust and few people here gave them the thumbs up.

My transaction went as smooth as could be. Got multiple emails from them every step of the way. Ordered on a Thursday eve, they shipped Friday and the purchase was at my FFl on Tuesday. Seems 2 day business is their standard shipping.

Edit, looks like one of the mags in the package is a shorty and the 2nd mag has pinky extender.

Check Gander Mountain in your area, as they have some of the best prices I've found for gun shops. You pay tax, but no FFL fees.

I think they are ugly and I am not a fan of the holster they come with.....but I really have enjoyed my XD

Springfield's customer service has been extraordinary as well.

Really? Sounds like a strange reg.

OK regs say 50 rounds of ammo but no stipulation on number of mags.

I can't believe I'm saying this, have you considered a Gen4 Block? I was messing with a buddies Gen4 G19 with a ghosttrigger and it was a pretty sweet shooting little turd.
Not quite the precision shooter my P9S is, but still a nice weapon and great aftermarket support.

I've not heard anything bad about XD's and the satisfaction with Springfield's CS seems to be universal.

The only other weapon I would suggest is a used USPC. I see 'em in 9 and .40 going for 500-550 pretty frequently and it's tough to beat the SA trigger of a variant 1 without going into the world of 1911's.

Xdm

Why not go for the XDM version? I have one of the 5" models in 40 S&W and like it a lot. I looked at both the XD and the XDM models and decided that the changes and upgrades were worth the extra $$$$. For a smaller carry gun, I have an FNP-357 (357 Sig) that is lighter and smaller (about the size of a Colt Commander). The FNP guns are made here in the states at the FN plant in South Carolina.

Can I get the (M) with a 3"brl? I'm wanting a small and light carry gun...

Honestly I looked at various Walthers.... But there are very few around here so I can't find one to test... and they are $$$

Ive got an XDm in 9mm. I love it, but the plain XD is great too. The real benefit of the subcompact is the shorter grip, not the 3" barrel. The XDms have a grip that holds 19 rounds, so its not the easiest to conceal. Id like to eventually either get a subcompact or an XDm with a chopped grip.

I'm still thinking the XD SubC is the way to go.... Going to swing by a range and see if they will let me play with a few others tomorrow....
