Or you can move to a state like PA that doesn't require them. Hehe

Front plate? I want one on the back to ease pain at those pesky toll booths.

A friend of mine had a simpler and cheaper solution.

He put his front license plate on a color scanner. He gave the resulting jpeg to a local graphic design shop. He had them print it out on vinyl. He applied the vinyl decal to his front bumper on his Boxster S.

I remember this as a popular idea for 911's in West Germany in the early '70's.

Best,
Tom

Same in AZ. They give us two plates but only require one on the vehicle. When I drive in Kalifornia they love it...

Is that actually legal though? After all it is a 'counterfeit' plate, even if it happens to be your own.

Not legal.

In Germany the sticker license plate was issued by the DMV.

I just don't use a front plate. Got a fix-it ticket once in the last 15 years, which is a small price to pay for not crapping-up the front-end looks of my cars.

That'd take up about 1/2 of the ground clearance from mine.

+1 to what campbelljc said. Who cares? Just don't put it on. If they give you a hard time it's a fix-it ticket most times.

The purpose of a front plate is solely so they have a target with a reflective surface in order to try and bust you for speeding via laser. Why hand 'em an easy one and make it simpler for them to extort more money from you?

Front plate? LOL! Nope.

No Front Plate = justification for detention.

justification for detention = investigation for identification.

investigation for identification after drinking 2 beers and then driving home =

I don't care. I'm still not putting one on. I'll take my chances. When I blow a 0.0 my lawyer will have a load of fun with it too. I could use some extra money on behalf of the state, that's fine.

I really don't follow the logic of how not using a front plate equates to someone being drunk anyway. I can't say I've ever seen anyone go to a bar, have a couple of beers and then go out to their car and say, "hey you know what? I think I'll take my front plate off now, can you hand me that screwdriver while I crawl under here?"

Silliness.

As I said above, the only reason is to make it easier for the Revenue Gestapo to try and extort money from you by making you hang a reflective mirror on the front of your car for them to shoot laser at. Sorry, I'm not playing along with this. I'd rather deal with having to deal with a minor nuisance fix-it ticket issue than to hand 'em an easy one.

There is no requirement in Texas statute that states you have to drill hole in your bumper to affix a front plate if the vehicle didn't come equipped with a mount.

State law requires two plates otherwise. Maybe you guys should get to writing an amendment.

I got pulled over by an unmarked Camaro in VA when I was in my 993. Cop first tried to say I was street racing him. But I never took his bate or even exceeded 59 in a 50 zone for the five miles he was side by side with me. I had no idea he was a cop until he lit me up. Then he tried to get me on DUI. Nothing. Finally he gave me a ticket for no front plate.

I like that one - my Audi did not come with any holes or bracket. When I put the plate on (for a few minutes) to get that fix-it ticket cleared a few years ago, I removed the bumper cover and screwed it to the actual bumper behind.

I put the bumper hole plugs in my 993 and then put the clear bra over it all. No way is it ever getting drilled again.

I did get pulled over in the SC once for no front plate. But I was coming home from the track and had it in the bin in my front seat. Cop let me go when I showed it to him and explained I was 1000 ft. from my house and just coming home from the track.

Won't fly here - it's been tried. It's considered a counterfeit plate. They could impound your car for it here, probably. Of course, our highway police are effin' nazis.
