Need Some Advice (Especially From Women) In Next 24 Hrs
I'm putting together a photo book for my wife's birthday. It will be photos from our time together, chronologically.
And I'm stuck on the last picture. My favorite picture of her is from about 20 years ago, it is a rather fine shot if I do say so myself. However, I am wondering if she will be upset if I end the book with that picture of the young her, rather than the current her. Kind of like, I'm saying she's no longer beautiful or some other message. I don't have a recent shot of her that is anywhere near as good. Mostly because I haven't been that into photography and, frankly, 99.9% of the photos in the last 10 years are of the kids, not of she or me. Which is something I will change, but right now I'm working w/ the photo library I have. What do you think? More importantly, what do the female PPOT'ers, or the males' spouses, think? I need to finish this tomorrow night and get it ordered, so please give me your advice soon. Thank you.

Can't, she's out of town. And I wouldn't have time to develop and print it. Yes, I do my best work in B&W film.

Leave a blank space at the end, you can take a picture of both of you when you hand her the present and tell her that there was just one thing missing.
Or leave the last space open, since it's chronoligically and you're not leaving her anytime soon, your book will never be finished... (I am not a female, sorry... )

![]() ![]() John, I wouldn't end on that picture. G-man's suggestion is an excellent one.

Every married man understands that concept, but sometimes misses the execution of that plan. I know when she quits talking to me I did something wrong. Sometimes I have no idea what I did or did not do.

Make a video presentation with the photos fading in and out, a few typed messages on the screen, done to the tune of a touching song. She'll bawl her eyes out.

I like the idea of ending it with a blank space, and maybe tie in the beginning of a savings account for a big trip for a big birthday or anniversary or something. Add a note saying "we'll fill this one in on our 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii" or some place you've both always wanted to go.

Maybe use the favorite picture for the cover?
THe advice above to leave the last page blank (25th anniversary - 50th - etc) is absolutely a wonderful suggestion. Romantic, optimistic, full of love. A hit straight out of the park. angela

It's a shame you're working with a short deadline, otherwise, I would have suggested you have this made into a coffee table book (i.e. from Mypublisher, Blurb, etc.).
Either way, I like the way you're thinking... |

Okay, I've solved it. The emotional issue.
Now I have a technical issue. My version of iLife is, it turns out, too old to order Photobooks. I need to upgrade to a newer version of iLife. You can't buy it online, the Apple Store is closed, and I am getting on a plane tomorrow and won't likely have time to go the the Apple Store, buy iLife, bring it home, install it, order the Photobook - because I gotta work too. So, where I'm flying to, I have friends with newer iMacs and MacBooks. I am thinking about grabbing a portable hard drive, copying the relevant album to it, and using a friend's iMac to order the Photobook. Will this work? Any tricks to copying the album - don't want to find out that I got the images but left behind the index or something.

Not too familiar with Macs, but wouldn't copying your images onto a USB then onto your friends Mac work just as well?
