Well I guess it's finally time..
Been chosen to be a pallbearer at my Uncle's funeral this coming Tuesday. I knew eventually this day would come and I would have to man up. Dang, this is going to be difficult for me.
Man is this depressing... ![]() Book of Memories for Valentine Schumakoff at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home

The ultimate is having to give a eulogy.

Sorry to hear - I've performed that role a few times myself. Never easy but OTOH I feel it's one of the best ways to pay one's respect by helping them to their final resting place. Best to you.

I'm sorry for your loss. Is the bigger issue that you've lost your uncle or being a pallbearer?

Very sorry for your loss. None of us want's to do this (your) job.
Carry your uncle with respect, (I know you will), help others. You can get through the depression. Look up, that might help. Can't hurt Regards Karl Last edited by KarlCarrera; 08-22-2010 at 06:08 PM.. |

They believe he had a heart attack. Unsure though until the results come back. Went upstairs to get ready for dinner and my Aunt found him lying on the floor. It's all really sad since he left behind two young daughters.
wdfifteen, of all my Uncles I was probably closest to this one. And he may actually be a pelican, well maybe just a lurker. I consider it an honor to carry him to his final resting place, and will miss him dearly. Let me find the pic of his 4-door RS replica.

Wow, someone wrote on his guestbook about DE events. I wonder if any of these guys are pelicans?
We were just remembering some of the driving events we did together. Watkins Glen when poor Alena was just starting to walk. Gravity was so relentless that weekend. The poor kid looked like she had been in a prize fight without the prize. The three day event at Mid Ohio. Where Val, Mark and I stayed at the worst fleabag hotel in Ohio (maybe the US.) But we went back the next year because they gave us a hose and bucket to wash our cars. Another Watkins where Val and Mark were sharing a car. They wore the rear tires down to the cord the first day and had to scramble to get another pair only to cord the fronts on the first run on the next day. And of course all of the camaraderie at home afterwards banging out fenders and bolting new pieces on the cars so we could go do it again. I will miss the big lug, Frank Baker

Val Schumakoff
Tom,
Sorry about your uncle Val. I am a pelican. he another friend Mark and I built that 73 out of what was left of his 72 targa. he liked mine so we were building another RS replica for him. Frank PS: Joe McNally, another NJ porsche guy has restored Val's old red targa to a pretty high standard. it still has the 73T engine from the white coupe in it.
