Website Problems
My website host is out of business, does anyone have any good suggestions for a new host? I want to get the site back up as soon as I can.
Thanks in advance

Depends on what you need.
1and1 has a lot of options Rackspace is pricey, only you can determine if it's worth it for you Pair has a good rep Some people have had good luck with Hostgator though to me it seemed like it was being run by HS students |

I can host you cheap for a low traffic site. 1and1 does a good job. If you want 100% full control, linode.com

I use ADPhosting (Go daddy) and have never had a problem (at all).

I use Network Solutions and have POP email with them as well. Works fine. I am looking to upgrade at some point to a group with an Outlook Server.

Very timely thread. Am hunting for someone new right now.
I used to recommend Westhost but not as of the last six months. Their service was excellent but six months something changed. My site has been down 6 times in 5 weeks and while they eventually fix the problem, it should have been fixed 5 weeks ago for good. Am now looking for options as service like this is pure BS. My email and website/bulletin board was down when I hit the sack last night, and still not back up this morning. Avoid Westhost like the plague...

N-S isn't as cheap as go-daddy, but it has good tools for setting up a webpage and the e-mail is also easy to manage. You can pop as well as webmail.
We've been using this service for 4 years and I haven't noticed any significant outages. They have had a couple of hour or two situations where the pop-servers are down (outgoing). There are lots of guys out there. And I'm looking for my next host, for a super cheap website, which I'll setup when/if the domain expires in a few days. Someone is squatting on a web name, probably hoping to sell it. It expires in early September, so I'm hoping to jump the day after expiration.

Many ISPs these days are offering Virtual Servers. They really are a good deal. It's like having a dedicated server without the hardware cost. They can be scaled up and down as need dictates, add cores, bump RAM etc.... The option to price point makes them a very attractive deal. 1and1 have a nice assortment and they also offer exchange hosting for your package. The other option which I don't think works for Joe due to his frequent travel is running a server from home. The biggest issue with that was always the dynamic address that you get from your ISP. There are ways to get around it but none of them can guarantee 100% uptime. Recently I found Namecheap.com They allow you to set up a nameserver on a dynamic IP and will keep the records current.
