tuna and trout
Who's fishing this summer?
We caught the trout in the North Cascades of Washington State, and the tuna about 50 miles off the coast. Trout this year were up to 17 inches, and the tuna were 20-30 lbs. Water on the tuna trip was 6-8 foot swells, so I spent some time praying over the rail, but my share of the boat was 6 fish ( I actually landed 9, but two guys were too sick to fish, so we all donated to them.) I took home over 75 lbs of fillets. ![]()

Been doing a lot of lunch time fishing here at work in a 3 acre retention pond. Large bluegills and small bass (1-2lbs), lots of fun on ultra light tackle.

Canned some, grilled some, smoked some, and gave a whole lot away. Whenever I go fishing, I become very popular!
Back up for more trout next month. |

I just smoked a bunch of Albacore. Then I canned it! What a tuna fish sandwich that makes!

When I was cooking I used to do an orange smoked tuna appetizer. Brine was just soy, rice wine vinegar, orange juice, brown sugar, ginger, garlic and 2 drops of orange oil. brine for 1 hour, smoke for 2 hours, it was like tuna candy. Won a Best of Boston, that was over 20 years ago.

Please keep those recipes coming! Unfortunately, my family does not share my fondness for fish, so I end up eating most of it myself.

That looks like Ross Lake Resort.. I've often thought of staying there. Not to hijack, but what did you think of it?

It is indeed Ross Lake Resort. Simply incredible. We have stayed there every year, sometimes up to three times per year, every summer for 14 years. Trout are indigenous; you can only use barbless hooks, no bait, three fish limit, must be at least 13 inches.
