Every town here has a rough patch, Boca included. The only place without a "ghetto" of some sort is Parkland. And, I-95 runs through every coastal town.

For $1k ~ $1.2k rent, you might want to look in Pompano or Deerfield., but in a decent area, that's condo money.

Do you mean interesting? 95, 75, 4, Alligator Alley & the Turnpike(s) are all numbing. The only interesting road in the south is Hwy 60 from Brandon to the Turnpike. I like the dude ranch & the panther crossings.

Ex-wives with $$$ are thicker than flies in Boca. Mizner Park + Saturday night = cougar heaven. If you want the cougar who is going to pay for everything, including a new Porsche, head up to Palm Beach.

Get in line. There's an endless supply of guys looking for cougars, too. I've started shopping the other end of the scale... 18 ~ 22. Nonetheless, we do have tons o' women down here.

The saga of the job search continues...
These people (managers) piss me off... In there job advertisments they are looking for "energetic, motivated, BS degree, min 5 years experience, and I want it all for $30k" And then when you apply with all but one of those areas fulfilled (5 years experience), you get no reply. This is in serious WTF territory... can someone please explain how one obtains experience in a given industry when nobody gives you a chance to begin with?
Oh, and the 5 years of work experince you do have to show for is with stuff FAR more complex than the job you are seeking, as if there is some kind of secret behind what they do...

FWIW: I regularly advertise for office assistants @ $12/hr. I get hundreds of resumes from folks with MBA's and years of technical experience, etc.

Instead of the "shotgun" approach, I would target specific companies, find out who is who as far as hiring, then go visit them in person.

Yep.....now you see what I was talking about with my wife not finding work for 2 years......
And also my suggestion of getting on-site to sell yourself.....it's easier to demand more $$ when you're looking them in the eye, and also will make you able to jump on a lucky opportunity if you find one.....
Its real tough down here, I lucked out with my p-car gig......I could go on for hours about what my wife went/is going through reguarding pay scale down here.....

There's no denial that "GOOD Paying Jobs" are becoming more and more difficult to find, they're out here but they are hard to come by.

My wife has a MD in Hotel Food and Beverage Management 7 years of experience, I have seen her put events together for 800 hundred people and run like a swiss clock, we have been trying for over a year to find her a job, we usually do 7-10 applications every night when we find the jobs up to 50 miles away. So far our conclusion is as follow.

She is over qualified ( whatever the hell that means) it seems that if you have someone from the inside to help you in, then you are home free.

So "IF" anyone has connections down here in the hotel industry about lending us a hand

But don't give up, I'm sure you can also find your " Cougar" for some "Monkey" Business

Yep.....overqualified has been the common term used to describe my wife, then she doesn't get the job because the employer thinks she'll jump ship as soon as something "better" comes along, 2 years we've been dealing with that.....
So she's going back to school to get her liscense in another field, hopefully that'll help.....
My advantage was I have a skilled trade of 20 years in mobile electronics.....which helped me land my porsche tech gig......and a great starting pay....

HA! Interesting! What does she do. If I may ask? I send my wife to school for Estate Certified Appraisal, and we know what happen with the housing market, then I send her to school for medical billing and coding now we find out that the school she went to is not a recognized school within the field so the saga continues......

I understand but not even an interview?

My wife had 10 years in a corperate headquarts of one of the lagest international shippers in the world, she was a cna before that so she took the florida test to get recertified and worked with the county hospice (only part time was available if you even want to call it that), she is going to school to get her masotherapy liscense to start her own company in that field......

Not a lot of ports in Orlando.

Port Everglades - Ft. Lauderdale

Port of Miami - Miami

Port of Palm Beach - Riviera Beach

But, then again....there is a huge shortage of massage therapists.

Point is = you have to move to where the jobs are.

She was in charge of all billing for the company, the system they used was applicable to many other fields....there are a few large carriers in orlando and ocala which had job postings in exactly what she did on the corperate level.....they hired someone who wasn't as qualified, and the jobs were relisted a couple months later.....still no call.....
Basically, you nailed it, go where the work is, I've always been the bread winner.....we just didn't expect her finding work would've been so difficult as I'm sure many have.....

We have a good game plan.....still playing catchup though.....

Part of it's your resume too -

You really need to modify it for the job you are applying for - No longer is the one-size fits all applicable.

Too much and you are over qualified - too little and you are discarded.
