Support or Discourage Obessions of a 2 yr old...

So my little guy has been obessing over something that has consumed the majority of his day. Just about everything he does relates to this. I wasn't sure what to do. Should I support his obession or should I try to discourage? After some deep soul searching I decided to.....

support his obsession - Martini Race Cars:

All the work was done while he as on vacation visiting Grandpa in MT. The stripes are painted on. I marked the top and bottom "borders" and the red stripe. The rest were masked off by eyeballing it. His dressers are lateral file cabinets that I added casters to and painted blue. Randomly found the "Limited Edition" chrome badges at a Fred Meyers store and thought they'd be perfect.

Needless to say he has been thrilled with the re-model of his room. I still have a few more posters and accessories coming. The carpet is shot and will be replaced with race decking in the near future. He has been sure to point out to everyone that he has a Martini room (average time between reminders is about 3 minutes).

I think my work as a dad is done

I can just picture his friend's parent's expression when he tells them he has a Martini room - they're picturing a lounge-like setting with a wet bar in the corner...

Looks awesome!

Heh. Both of mine are into the Cars movie... there is a guy that parks a new Carrera out in front of where the daughter does ballet... they both sing out "Real Carreras have 4 cams!" when they walk by... can't wait to see the owner's look when he hears that

If it makes you feel any better, my son was obsessed with whales. He told everyone that his favorite was the sperm whale.

Does he let you play with his toys?

Now take him to Hooters to celebrate

Actually, daddy wants to be just like his kid. This is how I intend to paint the garage. Luckily, he lets me play with his toys in there. I wonder if the wife would notice if I put up a flat screen and a wet bar...
