People call me "mister" now.
Kids run when I yell, "Git off mah properteee!"
My wife pays my life insurance premiums for me.

Lot's and lot's of available and very decent tang - you can pretty much pick and choose if you are in decent physical condition and don't act all codgery.

Vash,
Read Passages by Gail Sheehy. It is based on Seasons of a Man's Life, a scholarly work by Daniel J. Levinson. For myself, I find that there are many things that I don't have to do anymore, and most of the things that I wish to do, I do.

Best,
Tom

I don't think of it as Old Age yet, more like Middle Age.

More financial security. Bills are paid off (haven't had a mortgage for 30 years), I can do things I want to do (career wise) as opposed to a job I felt I had to hang on to.
That gives us more freedom to travel, which my wife has learned to love.

I like to think I have lived long enough to resist foolish impulses. Some would say I have always been a 'stick in the mud', but I don't have a criminal record.

I have the courage to do the things I really want to do. I have played guitar since I was in my teens, and joined a community group four years ago to do some music and have fun. In the group for three weeks and we're on the stage in the local theatre as part of a fund raiser for the Health Centre and I discover I'm loving it. I could not have done that 20 years ago.

I have learned to listen to people around me and take risks to do things that I feel need to be done. I wish I had learned THAT 30 years ago.

Life is good.
Les

Pretty well sums it up. I'm still not used to Mister & I'm 56.

And most of them are over themselves and the fairytale dreams that ruin most relationships (Except for the ones that are chronically bat a$$ crazy.)

If you have a sense of humor, a decent job, and good hygiene you have suddenly become a hot property!

But my biggest perk of middle age... not giving a fork about what other people think.

Get outta here!

After reading your posts for the last year I would have thought you to be late 20's early 30's. You seem to have more energy and get more things done than any one I know. I think your on the right track.

I'm 43 as well, Vash.

Honestly, I am a better person now than I was in my 20's. Maturity has a way of doing that.

I don't want for much and I have a family that apparently thinks the world of me.

Jeez, there's a 911 sitting inthe garage so I NOTHING to compain about!

If only I knew then what I know now.

Another 43yo here.

For the most part, you guys make me feel young. Try spending time on the BMW forums!

I'm probably in the best shape of my life. I have more money than ever, but the older I get, the less I want to spend it.

Unfortunately I'm getting more and more farsighted by the day and every impact brings on a new pain. I took a mountain bike fall this weekend that has me limping pretty good

The best part about getting older is that you get a lot wiser. Unfortunately nobody believes that except the other old guys.

True enough. I certainly get all I want, whenever I want (which is once every three months).
