Wow...A Perfect Time of The Year In Houston!!
Not meaning to gloat.....but this weekend has been incredible here in Houston...morning temps 60-65F and mid-day temps 80-85F. Sunny..clear skies...flora all green and lush.
I woke-up yesterday and this morning at 5am and each morning did a 35mile bike ride from the west side town right through town to Memorial Park and back..no cars...no traffic, just me on my Cannondale cruising...truly beautiful and memorable. I am starting my 2nd year here in Houston and I really like this part of the year here, this past summer was really unbearably hot and was ready to pack-up and leave...I never knew it could get so hot...but the past few weeks and this weekend especially have been magical. Yea -- I'll second that. To me the summer heat is a small price to pay for Oct - Dec. , the best time of year (Mar - May isn't too bad either).

It's not the heat, it's the humidity. It has been rather nice in Texas lately.

As I mentioned in another thread...yesterday I drove up 249 and through the Sam Houston National Forest...didn't see one single classic car out for a cruise. I left my 914 top at home in Houston because I didn't have room in the trunk. Rain, ain't gonna happen!
That's one thing Texas can't hold a candle to vs. California...appreciation of old cars. Amazing weather for a cruise!

Yeah, at the very least Tomball area is usually a decent place to see some old 50/60s Chevy or Fords. But nothing.
I wouldn't/won't drive my 914 into the city and midtown - too small of a car to not be seen by every Texas style big SUV/Truck.

I just got back from the 249 sam houston national forest racetrack. It was a beautiful day for a drive. I didn't see much in the way of cars but plenty of two wheelers.

I never want to live anywhere that nice weather is such a rarity as to written about like it's something special. I was in Houston this time last year and couldn't keep my clothes dry walking from my parking space to the front door.

Rick, don't you live in AZ. We in texas get really excited when the humidity drops below 60% and the temps don't reach 90.

It's beautiful. Yesterday I spent a bunch of time working outside and had the windows open in the house. the dew point was in the 40s and low 50s. NO HUMIDITY.
It's pretty nice.

You'll have to find some obscure stuff to find something that makes Texas better than Arizona. AZ walks all over TX in every possible way, without even trying.

We have that too and our weather really is excellent. Houston weather SUCKS. Nice people, horrible heat and humidity. I have a nice house with a pool and my prop. taxes are $1800 PER YEAR.

That and living in the desert. I just did the I-10 west then I-40 east drive. I-10 was a complete ****hole drive the ENTIRE state that I would never wish on anybody. However you are much closer to the mountains, California, and Vegas which are certainly positives. It's 8 hours in any direction from Houston just to see something rise beyond 1000 feet. Sucks.

I can't remember the last time I drove on I-40 or I-10. They are but tiny, insignificant slices of the state. The best parts of the state are hours from both roads. But please keep thinking AZ sucks. We have enough people here. And our open carry and no helmet laws scare outsiders.

I never said AZ sucks. Did I? I pointed out some negatives...and when your biggest city is the kidnapping capitol of America directly because of the borderless border - I do believe your state has some security issues.

This statement alone proves your gross ignorance of AZ. Did you know that 100% of what they call "kidnappings" here are Mexicans or illegals from further south who were never reported missing? See, when they uncover a drop house with 50 illegals being held by their coyote until their familes show up to pay for their relatives' passage across the border, they call all those illegal aliens "kidnapping victims." Nevermind that not a single one of them was kidnapped or brought to the US against their will. Quite the contrary. They hired their "kidnappers" to bring them here and then have to hole up in a drop house until the coyote gets paid. Yes, that's 100% of the "kidnappings" you're referring to. I can't remember hearing about someone being reported missing or kidnapped in AZ who wasn't invloved with human or drug smuggling. If you don't run in those circles, you are absolutely untouched by those "kidnapping" stats. But hey, they make for great hyperbole on both sides of the border issue.

Unfortunately, non-drug related crimes seem to be on the rise here.
