Damn I'm lovin my car

Finally, finally getting the 77 911S out this year for some nice drives. It's been an escape for the wife and I after we close each night. Take a drive up Flathead Lake or like this weekend down to Ninemile, all beautiful mountain roads with fall colors. I don't care what they say about middies, this car is a beaut. She's got all the updates and gets lots of compliments. Hope you all are getting in some end of the season drives.

Sounds fun. We don't have season ending drives around here in Northern CA. We just keep going.

Where at Flathead are you? I spent a couple memorable vacations at my cousin's cabin right on the lake, just south of Big Fork. Great kokanee salmon fishing. I'd love to cruise up the Going to the Sun Highway in my 911.

The nice thing about a driving 'season' is that it lets you rediscover your car every year. It never becomes an appliance. You drive all year guys just don't experience that 'new' car thrill over & over every spring. Pity. It never gets old. So boast all you want, it means nothing to us.

I went for a great top-down, music-blaring rural road 3 hour drive on Sunday. It was a blast.

No, No, Ninemile is past eightmile and is close to tenmile.

Awesome country, love those backroads thru the ranch country which is everything out of town, you can still run that car pedal to the metal.

30 yrs ago almost settled in Kalispell but decided to pick the cascade range, have good memories of Big Mtn.

Has Montana cleaned up there pothole roads yet?? its been 15 yrs since I have been your way.

Don't listen to Ian - he's nuts. I'd love to drive all year round. Yes, it's nice to hear that growl after several months of hibernation, but I'd trade it to live in a warm climate in a heartbeat, if that were possible. Besides, I just generally hate winter, except at christmas time.

Wow you hate winter and live in a place where winter is LONG. I don't guess you can get much further south than Hamilton unless you cross the border.

Grip when you want it, fun when you want it. Lots of grip because of the rear weight balance, but fun is only a poke of the gas away.

I had a set of summer tires on my 911 and had to drive it on a COLD and snowy day. It was ZERO fun. Summer tires suck big time in the winter. With winter tires they can be great. Ground clearance is the big issue.

Yep. Grew up near here, almost all the family's within 2 hours of here, as is my wife's. And winters are actually tame here compared to the snow belt just 50km west of here, all the way down to Detroit. Ontario summers and autumns are among the best in the world (except the humidity in July), and I actually like winter until about Jan. 2, right after the holidays, then the novelty's worn off and I suffer until the end of March. I agree, it sucks, and doesn't make much sense, but I'm glued to the area, running a small business. If ever I get the opportunity to sell it, I would very strongly consider doing so and moving south. And if I ever have a post-76 911, you can bet it'll see winter driving.

Summer tires in snow are terrifying. Suddenly all season tires don't seem so bad.
