We do have some good restaurants in the area... I just usually don't have time to search them out....

Man you can't be eating hot anything at Subway, stay away from any sort of fish, tuna, seafood salad too.

Sid, like I said, I would rather go hungry than eat crappy food, PH 'za is crap, plain and simple.

Occasionally crave the greasy burger, but tend to hit the Squeeze Inn or Tiny's for that(two local hole in the wall places) Have not had a Squeeze with cheese since they were forced to move due to an Americans with Disabilities Act lawsuit.

Then you would go hungry around here..... The choices for eating out are pretty slim in a town of less than 10k....

I think it's because they use so much salt. One day I hope we all have that Star Trek thingy what makes the food..

We have a CPK next door to the office. I don't think I've ever seen any other type of pizza (in the office) than what comes from them. My wife has found a decent (good but not great) Mom 'n Pop place for home delivery/takeout. But going to kids' birthday parties, I'm constantly reminded of Domino's, Costco, and the like. Like Sid, no GI distress no matter who makes the pie. But man, I'm sick of cheese pizza.

I like CPK's pizza. But I don't eat it that much.

For those that haven't tried it, the new Domino's pizza is pretty good. In Houston, really GOOD pizza is tough to find. I grew up in a City with a large Italian population and am used to really good pizza/Italian food.

We have one place that has much better than average pizza, but it is a distance away. They do have a series of stores, but only one of them is coal fired and that is the one to choose.

I eat there 3-5 times a year. Never sick and never bothers me... and love their boneless wings.

It is the cheese.
The crappiest (pardon the pun) cheese they can possibly find at the lowest price point.
I have the same problem with most pizza from chain restaurants.

We even ate at Pizza Hut in a Carrefour on Guangqu Rd in Beijing . . . at the (pre) Room Monkey's insistence . . . we were tired of noodles & dumplings anyway . . .

Pizza Hut has gone down hill in the past few years (not that they were ever amazing). I used to be able to eat a few slices and feel fine afterward; but now, I eat a slice and I'm going to be queasy for the rest of the day. Luckily, Austin / Pflugerville / Round Rock area has some very good local pizza places that actually take pride in making great pizza so I don't miss Pizza Hut at all.

Double Daves was one of the better low-end choices 30 years ago in college...Pizza rolls were good. At the time, Pizza hut didn't deliver, Dominos was not good and "expensive". Cheap was Pizza Express.

I won't suggest DD or Rockin' Tomato although for cheap pizza they're ok.

Austin:
Home Slice
Rounders
Niki's
Frank and Angie's
Mangi's
EZ's Brick Oven and Grill
Yaghi's
Austin's Pizza
Austin Pizza Garden
Aljohn's

Round Rock:
The Original Brooklyn Pie Company
Gino's Pizzeria
Lamppost Pizza

Pflugerville:
Ncredible Crust Pizza

I've tried to rank them in the order that'd I'd eat at them. My favorites are: Home Slice, Rounders, Ncredible Crust Pizza, Niki's and Brooklyn Pie Company.

I'm sure I've forgotten some, when I remember them I'll add them on.

Of course, nothing beats making your own pizza from scratch.

I am from Joisey and consider myself a pizza purist.

Thin, THIN crust, sauce, mozerella, with basil.

Done.

I never eat Pizza Hut stuff in the states but when I lived in Costa Rica all the people I knew in San Jose loved Pizza Hut. When I would go to town that's where they always wanted to go. It was different than what I remembered from here and tasted pretty good.

One night in Xi'an, China my dad was feeling ill and didn't want to leave the hotel. So my mom, wife and I stopped at PH to get him some dinner. We couldn't believe our eyes. PH is a very fancy restaurant in China and costs more than it does here, which is a lot of money there.

Thanks for the recommendations. The Brick Oven is another joint that's pretty good.
