A Decent Biz Idea? I just Don't have the Time?Energy to do it...

With the explosion of all these apps for smart phones, there seems to be a bunch that are cool enough but many are either junk or filled with crap code or worse. I was thinking there should be some sort of app certification that says "this app has been tested and approved for use in _____ smart phone." That way the consumer gets an app that is useful. Of course money is made by app producers wanting their product tested and approved and given the thumbs-up sign. As an addition to that, this 'said business' could also have a geek team working on their latest versions as awell because as a matter of course they need to be up to speed on all the latest wares coming from Apple and the like.

So, what do you think?

Mike,

I'm in the consumer SW business.

QA is hard to make a profit center.

True, unless you tie something less in with it....hmmmm....a company that gets presented with a bunch of different apps, finds various faults with them and is able to feed back that in to the developers? Sounds like the other side of the business is app development at best and consulting at worst?
