Daughter "Mom, I'm worried about my boyfriend... he has terrible dandruff"
Mom "Have you tried giving him head and shoulders?"
Daughter "Yes... but how do you give shoulders?"

Sorry, sorry, sorry...

try this one Plexion. Rx required Sodium Sulfacetamide 10% and Sulfur 5%. kicks ass. Kills most of the bacteria that causes dandruff.

I've had mild psoriasis on my scape pretty much my whole life. I use Neutrogena T/Gel tar shampoo everyday. I asked my dermatologist if there was any risk from the tar and he said nope you're just stuck with it probably for the rest of your life.

Try Dr. Bonners with tea tree oil. The tea tree oil kills the bacteria that causes most dandruff.

Pulling this old thread back up since I've been getting what I think are psoriasis scabs on my scalp like I've never had before. I didn't think much about it but I was talking to my mom who lives 200 miles away and she mentioned she's having the same thing. Coincidence or something else?

Anyone else have abnormal skin issues lately?

Any new stresses David? I started getting big flakes a few years back after a few months of a super toxic environment at work. Moved to a new job with less stress and it started clearing up after a few months.

I use the dove scalp care shampoo still now to keep it away and feel like it’s been really helping.

I started using the wife's Pantene Shampoo & Conditioner while on a weekend get away.
That was six years ago - I'm a convert, and no more flakes.

What do your blood sugars look like? A1c? Psoriasis can be an indication of insulin resistance (ie, on the diabetes spectrum).

You might consider experimenting with a low sugar, grain free diet and see if that helps. Also try eliminating dairy, tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes.

I went to the dermatologist a year ago for an itchy scalp and ears. Was told I had seborrheic dermatitis. Was given some stupid expensive stuff to put on it. Never worked.

Went to a Sports Clip place a few months ago and the stylist said said use Tea Tree shampoo and add perpmint oil. It’s worked wonders for my dandruff.

Fish Oil (omega 3) may also help.

I mix about a teaspoon of baking soda in a 20oz bottle of water. Gently massage into scalp and let sit for about a minute. Rinse with cool(ish) water, then use another 20oz bottle filled with 3-4 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with about 3 drops of lavender oil for aroma. Massage into scalp and leave for about 3-4 minutes, rinse with cool(ish) water. Hair will smell like vinegar while wet, but the smell will dissipate as hair dries. Been playing around. These days I use the CVS brand of head and shoulders for a few washes, then use the baking soda/vinegar treatment. I have pretty good luck with that.

Hahaha!

Back to the original question...to have flakes you need hair...which has been a challenge as of late.

from WebMD...

If you have mild to moderate psoriasis, you may get some relief from skin creams. They can reduce inflammation, itching, and cut the rate of skin cell growth.

Some examples include steroid creams, moisturizers, salicylic acid, anthralin, retinoids, calcipotriene (a form of vitamin D), and coal tar. Tar shampoos are helpful for psoriasis of the scalp

More likely the anti-fungal effect it has

Flaxseed oil capsules can be helpful for dry.
