This is not the web browser, but rather a full blown operating system. Haven't done much research thus far.

"All roads lead to Rome" has become; "All roads lead to Google in cloud"

Once upon a time Microsoft and others made OS's and programs to stand-alone and be productive on a PC. Sure, the programs and OS's could talk to each other as need (even after MS got sued for daring to have an OS reach the web). Anyway, here now we have Google in the Ethernet. All programs completely dependent on being plugged-in. ...attached to the oracle.

Think about that for a moment. The idea of You will be assimilated has never been more true than with Google.

I use Google Chrome the browser. Firefox went south on me crashing and doing other weird things. I'm still afraid of IE because of what I read here.

Will need constant internet connection. W/o net, no apps function and no data available.

All data stored on someone else's server - Google mostly. Accessible to hackers, law enforcement, businesses, absent protection either legal or technical.

Makes much of the PC irrelevant. Doesn't matter if have a hot processor, big drive, lots of ram, fast bus. Just a fast net connection and graphics. Maybe not even the latter if rendering and physics done on the server, though latency seems an obstacle to serious gaming.

No MSFT means not need x86 ie not need INTC. Can use ARMH.

How will GOOG make money on Chrome O/S? Advertising model? So have to see advertising in your apps? Selling data model? Subscription model?

Seems should be lot less vulnerable to malware since the apps are all running on server farm under supervision of a real IT team. Billy can't download and install the malicious app from Russia on his PC anymore.

IMO it's just great, when using the Microsoft based laptop it is actually the closest thing to the Mac......then again I already switched from the iPhone to the HTC droid which again imo is way better in every imaginable way and twice as fast ! Google rocks and Linux too....Yes I know opinions vary !!!!

No way in hell am I letting someone else keep my data. I also don't want to have to be connected to the Internet to do anything.

Do it creep anyone else out that Google takes pictures of all of our houses, has most of our personal e-mail, and now wants all of our data?

Yes, but at least they also mapped all of the IP (Wifi) signals too. They are much more thorough than one might first see.

What's the market cap on that stock? --seems that they have more Money than God.

...but rest easy, their credo is sumthin like "don't do anything too evil" right? No worries. They are not like crack dealers claiming 'first time is free - you'll like it."
