well, i picked up the Glock. havent shot it yet.

i just got it. i read through the manual twice and walked myself thru all the safety checks. nicely put together manual. a knucklehead can figure it out.

i will shoot it the following week with my brother in texas. he and his good friend are shooting instructors. the lack of a de-cocking lever..i want to learn it right.

anyways. like everything, there is a fly in my ointment. the slide release button is a chore to work. remember me putting my thumb into a table saw? it left me a tad numb and weaker in the thumb. i cannot drop the slide with ease as i can with the Sig. i know i can pull back with the other hand to assist.

the trigger on the Sig is smoother, but there as been a million rounds put thru it. i was pretty accurate with my brother's G21, but he has a very light factory trigger. i cant wait to shoot it (mine). i think my bro bought me a lighter trigger too, but i dont know if lighter is better for me.

i just joined Glockworld. hahah.

You can buy and enlarged slide release which will make it easier for you and your thumb.

Which Glock did you get? I have a G19; lots of fun to shoot. I was thinking about getting a larger model but decided to go with a Sig 229 in .40 instead. Will try to work a deal out next year.

A Glock is on my list when I come across one for under $300. The Phoenix PD turn-ins are $349, so I'm sure it won't be long before the price it right.

BTW, I've heard rumors that Glock will refurb their guns free of charge.

Vash, the Glock has a two step trigger the first part cocks the firing pin the second releases the pin. No de cocking lever needed as the weapon is never "cocked" till you start pulling the trigger (hopefully on target) if released, the pistol is safe (tension is released from firing pin). I have had s/n 3xx g-17 for many years and never had a problem.

I have a model 23 and it shoots like a dream. Guys who have lot more experience with various high-quality pistols are always impressed when they try it.

Its a new gun, so everything it going to be very tight. When I got my Sig, I could barely push the slide release. Put 300-400 rounds through it and see how it feels.

Get used to slingshotting or overhand the slide. It a more reliable, positive action. If you get an extended slide release, round all of the sharp edges so it doesn't hang up on your clothing.

Have fun. The Glocks seem like nice guns, but they just don't fit my hand well. At some point I'll probably pick up a Springfield XD to satisfy my want for a polymer gun. That or a used Sig or H&K. I need something in 9 mm, my 1911 is pricey to punch holes in paper.

Congratulations on the new spoon. I really enjoy shooting my Glock 21. One of the best parts is being able to easily customize them to your preferences. I have big hands, so I put on a "condem" on the grip.
