I didn't vote either. Too hard to know what it would be like on the other side.
I do pretty well with math and make a decent living at it, but I'd love to be able to write something besides a technical paper. I think the real benefit to math is you can make a decent living at it with a little effort. With writing it seems like your style has to match what many other people want or you're just another struggling writer. It does remind me of the joke: "What does an engineer use for birth control?" "His personality"
