Official What'd ya get for Christmas thread

Not just from the exchange, what'd ya get? I have some small stuff to open, but two things stick out: Got an overdrive for my Rover from the parents Getting myself this: It's a 20x30 1957-58 piece by Hugh Mesibov. Some may remember that I posted about finding a piece of his work at a thrift shop earlier in the year. He quickly became one of my favorite artists and the breadth of his work over the years is amazing: from abstract to surrealism to realism, he did it all and damn well.

sweet, I did a similar type of thing, sorta like Jackson Pollock, it turned out OK so I framed it and had it in my computer room. I had a Computer tech guy over working on my computer box and when it was time to pay him, I asked, " what do I owe you?" He said he'd take the painting in exchange for the computer box work..........Funny, the above kinda looks like the cardboard I had all my engine tin on when I was painting those parts> Steve 73 911T MFI Coupe, Aubergine

As near as I can figure (along with corresponding with the artist's son), it appears to be one of a series of abstracted landscapes, probably done while spending time on Monhegan island, though not one of the Monhegan series. Mesibov always paint 'something'. Pollock claims to have always had an idea of what he wanted to paint, but that's doubtful and even if true, WTF was it??? I'm just not a fan of Pollock...I prefer Mesibov's surreal works (much of it was), but the price on this was very right and it adds nicely to my collection.

Christmas is about giving. That said I am pretty positive I am getting 3 gym t-shirts. Wife and I agreed to keep it small and cheap...a 55 inch LED LCD is in the plan post Christmas. She will do better than I ... but I'm cool with that | ||

My wife and I got an awesome gift from my dad last night. He gave us each a $10 gold eagle coin that my grandfather (his dad) acquired after his arrival in the US in 1925. When US citizens had to turn in their gold in 1933, they were allowed to keep a small amount. He kept about 30 of them, and left half to my uncle, and half to my dad. Last night was the first I ever heard about this. All I can say is wow.

All I received was money. No returns by me. I upgraded my iPhone to a 32 gig iPhone 4. I will probably by a new LCD tv for my home office as well.
