I also couldn't ever buy a vehicle knowing that even one dime of my money had gone to support the UAW - indirectly or otherwise. A bit of a shame as there are some interesting American offerings nowadays (perhaps the Bullit Mustang is one but I don't know that much about it...) - the Z06 certainly, Caddy CTX, Ford GT, Saturn Sky Redline, etc... I'd love to test drive any of them but I'd never buy (I despise the UAW that much) and this is coming from a guy who typically goes out of his way to identify and preferentially buy American-made.

I do like my 944 (currently undergoing serious turbo modifications and exterior enhancements).

Yeah, I'm sure the German Auto workers Unions are much better than the UAW...;)

Stuff a V-8 in the 944...that'll work better. SBC is a pretty easy swap...

5.0 vs M3 C&D article, 911S, picture of Bullitt, Mustang better than 944, picture of Bulitt, why my Bulitt is as good as a 5.0 and by the way Edelbrock makes a supercharger, wash rinse repeat.......yawn.

Uh...you must not have watched the Motor Trend video...oh well. Does your wife know you're reading this? Like somebody posted earlier...if you don't like it, you don't have to read it, right?

Do a search. Look for Sidney's thrilling post with the pic of his sore throat. I'm sure you'll find it exciting.

I actually took it from this photo. I'm terrible at PS, that really took all my abilities. Plus, I hurt my mouse hand working on my 944. :D

I've never dogged the Mustang, in fact I've posted in multiple threads that I think Ford has been doing a great job with all of their cars, particularly the new 5.0. However, you're an ignorant fool if you think you're going to convert everyone on a PORSCHE BBS into Mustang fanatics just because you own one. When you persist on turning EVERY thread into Mustang vs the world, how can I avoid it? Do we need a PPOT Mustang sub forum as well?

Yay a Mustang thread!!!

Here's the interior of a Mustang GT I saw today - note the worst ever harness install:

Paul and Sid, you guys both need to take this to the Octagon. Either that, or get a room.

This is getting soo tired :(

(Sid, I'm disappointed that you took the bait, BTW)

pwd72s 01-05-2011 08:40 PM

Steve...I thought it was a great job! It's now printed out, stapled to my garage wall near some old '70's Porsche racing posters...:D

C'mon, puppy...you can't really believe I'm trying to convert anyone, can ya? ;)

Andrew, funny pics...reminds me of some Rice car tricks I've seen. Of course, ALL Porsches are modded tastefully...;)

Paul, 944 waterpumps work just damned fine, and aren't that hard to change... I've said it before, I'll say it again. There is a long list of cars I'd like to own, a mustang isn't on that list...

I think we will see a day when NICE 944s are worth more than bullits. Everyday another 944 gets molested or wrecked. Everytime that happens the nice ones go up a little.

Keep believing that and all will be well.

The thing is...I don't give a flying fig about depreciation or used values. I don't have the time to worry about that...

But as long as you guys keep bringing it up...how much does the buyer of a new 997 lose the moment he leaves the dealership? My Mustang's market value could go to zero, and I won't lose as much as that guy will in the first 2 years...

No matter how many times car salesmen say that they are, cars are NOT investments.

Dude, several of us have tried to get paul to put his money where his mouth is... He won't....

Honestly I'm disappointed in myself, but sometimes you reach a BS level where you just have to point out to some people how piss ignorant they are....

Now paul, My throat thread was not supposed to be entertaining. I was simply posing a question to the doctors to decide if I should seek medical attention or ride it out. That was a one time thread, not something that gets posted on a weekly bases.

So with the utmost respect, PISS OFF paul. I've asked you time and time again to lay off. If you have a problem with me you need to work that out with me via PM, not drag all this crap up the forum....

Joe Bob 01-05-2011 09:44 PM

Paul certainly likes green cars.....wonder how many miles before Kermie the Bullit gets an oil leak just like a P-car......

I've been needing a thread to use this in... :D

my first two cars were '66 mustangs. one was a rat trap, the other was pretty sound. i loved them both. i've also driven a 2009 45th anniversary GT and a 2007 V6 mustang. i liked them all. i still prefer my 951 to any of them. except when i have to work on it. nah... even then.

The German Unions aren't undermining the health and stability of their entire industry and directly contributing to the bankruptcy of their country. I am certainly no fan of unions in general, but the UAW in particular makes my skin itch.

But anyway, sorry to get off subject - don't want to make this an ideological discussion...

The SBC 944 conversion is decent although I have not seen one that allows you to retain the power brakes and a/c. I personally like the idea of being able to put down 400+ RWHP in a well-balanced vehicle all while sitting in air conditioned comfort and know that I can STOP the thing too... FWIW I have a complete Big Red conversion sitting downstairs for mine, so I'm not too worried. And I'll have my power brakes as well.

I wouldn't mind picking up a Corvette at some point just for the thrill of being able to light 'em up without thinking about it... Yeah it's sort of provincial titillation but OTOH, it IS fun... In a NASCAR fan kind of way... But I still wouldn't turn down having one just to have.

The Mustang is cool in its own way. I like it. It's very rare that you find retro done correctly but this comes close. Ford put some thought into it and although it's still not quite what I'd call a world-class, well-rounded performance car it's making strides in that direction. Undoubtedly fun to drive.

I think I'd still take a 'vette for straight-line fun but my own next DD is likely going to be either an AMG or a 996/997. For now the M.B. works fine, but I'll be in the market in the next couple of years... Sorry but won't be going to any Ford dealers.
