Who else is using a Netgear NAS RAID setup?
Who else is using a Netgear NAS RAID setup? Believe Wayne has one? Anyone else?
Have just upgraded my hard drives in mine to 2 gig each and finally getting it where I want it. That said, believe that there is a lot more that it can do and looking to see if others on the list have any suggestions. Thx, Joe

Joe,
I use Windows Home Server myself. My server has 8TB of disk and the Windows Home Server OS is very easy to tweak. Do a Google search on your hardware and you'll be sure to find a forum or two where folks tinker and tweak their systems...

Art,
Thanks and was looking for other information on things to do with it like sharing video and music around the house as well as storage. Joe

I'm interested too. Been thinking about a larger storage device.

I just setup my sister's network. The XBOX can pull video off shared drives. I installed an Iomega NAS. The XBOX picked up the open drive AND found all of the videos I left on there.

They sell video boxes which can stream video from any network drive. They are $50-$99. I have one, but haven't set it up yet. I think they also can be used for Netflicks.

Get the Western Digital Caviar Black hard drives for data storage, they are much better that the "green" hard drives for this type of thing...

I have the Netgear ReadyNAS Duo; works as advertised. I mainly use it for archival and backup storage but also sometimes stream videos to the big screen via the PS3. In addition I use it as a USB print server.

Green also tries to conserve power, so seek times can vary.
