is this a warning to not waste it doing stoopid contests?

or an admonition against buying plastic cars...

Wow, it is amazing to see it keep burning with all that water blasted on it.

thought the fireman would know - water doesn't work on a gas / oil fuel fire

turns out water is not that effective on a gas/oil/nitrous/fiberglass fire. Who'd a thunk it?

Why waste the water? Let it burn itself out.

I was 5 or 6 and went to the beach with my mom and a family friend when we saw a vette slowly melting/burning on the side of the road. Thinking back now and viewing the mental picture that I have, the car was parked on the side of the road in FL in the tall dry grass. I suspect what happened was the guy parked and the hot exhaust ignited the dry grass under the car. The thing couldn't have been more than 7 or 8 years old because that body style had only been around that long. Ats having a bad day.

Based on my experience in retail and at auto parts stores in FL specifically, if you don't have the right kind of fire extinguisher, you may as well just spit or piss on a car fire. I've seen several class A fire extinguishers emptied on various car fires, even really small ones, and they didn't put a dent in the fires.

Any thoughts about what caused the fire in the video? I'm guessing a fuel leak somewhere.

No sound on this computer but it looks like it could have been a blower back fire or he blew the lower end out of it. That orange flame shooting skyward might indicate a nitrous line venting.

Firefighters should have had AFFF ready in the line, or at least the capability to pump AFFF through the line...

Foam works best on a flat surface where it can puddle, if they had the right air mixing nozzle and could get the foam thick enough to stick it would help but that ain't easy to do.

The nozzleman also should have used the low velocity fog setting on the hose instead of spreading the fire.

Edit. on second look, I noticed a lot of smoke coming from under the engine, maybe more than the tires were producing.

Yep, AFFF (aqueous film forming foam) would have worked!

The guy with the hose has no clue about what kind of fire it is. Go figure. Darwin Might be like a lot of our fireman in our town.
