iThingy integration, Toyota Corolla.

Ok, so my CE(Cheapo Edition) Corolla just has a single disc player, and the local radio SUCKS. I want to integrate my iPhone, is this deal from Crutchfield worth the $130?

If you don't care about changing tracks with the buttons on the stereo or the steering wheel, you can do it a lot cheaper.

iTrip is $45.

I'm nit into the fm transmitters. I've had several and was never impressed.

I agree, FM transmitters suck as a way to input music.

I used to use a cassette to mp3 player to listen to music because I was in the same boat all the fm transmitters I had ever used sucked but the 44 only has a cd player/radio and the same with the truck I'm driving so my gf gave me an fm transmitter for christmas. I think this one which is kind of pricey at $80 Newegg.com - Belkin TuneCast Auto Live F8Z498

I've been really impressed with it so far, really clear sound no static, you can choose from the whole fm spectrum not just a couple of preset stations which is key.

I just did essentially the same thing to my car with DICE kit and I love it. Well worth the $100

You should be able to find a comparable, but cheaper kit elsewhere. What year is your corolla?

I have a similar set up for the after market Alpine in my 944. I bought the iPod connector for it a few years ago, I don't recall the exact price but I do remember it being much cheaper. Definitely go with the hard wire set up over the FM transmitter, the sound quality is so much better.

Yep, tons. I have a hardened setup for my '04 miata. I think it was $80-$90, and it wasn't the cheapest option (or most exp) out there.

I would, but this car does not have a dash that is conducive to swapping units....

It cannot be worse than a Datsun B210, a Toyota Corona, Mid 80's Mustang GT or a Porsche 914...

No, I mean the factory radio matches the curve of the dash. It would require an adapter and would look like crap.

I have a Grom adapter in my car. It was super easy to install once I got to the back of the radio. It just plugged into a spare port on the back of the chassis. It works well. I can either control the ipod from the ipod, or I can control it from the car stereo controls including flipping between 5 different play lists.

Here's a Grom ipod adapter for a bunch of Lexuses and Toyotas, $95. This is the site that I ordered mine from.

Toyota / Scion / Lexus GROM iPod Adapter Direct Interface V3

This place lists the Grom for $80, but I don't know anything about them.
* Grom Grom-I2-Toy Toyota Lexus Ipod Adapter - GROM - GROM-I2-TOY

There are other makers of adapters out there. When I was looking for mine, I saw several different options on the miata board. If you look around a bit you might find that there are others.

For what it's worth I have the GROM audio adapter in my VW wagon. Not only can I connect an i-pod as masruam describes, but it can play tracks direct from a USB memory stick that you plug into the unit. The unit and i-pod / memory stick effectively becomes the CD multiplayer as far as the head unit is concerned and the whole thing is hidden away, which I like.
