anuther dumb question for the Doc's (freebee)
Yeah I know, sleazy to be chasing free medical advice but so what:
For the past couple of weeks I've had a strange sensation on the outside of my thigh, right below where the pocket would be. It feels as if I have a cell phone in my pocket and it's going off on vibrate. Not as much fun as you might think. I've actually reached down to check if my phone is in that pocket a couple of times. It's intermittent but consistent kinda like a cell phone ringing. It feels as if a little bit of pressure is building up in a balloon and then vibrating slightly as the pressure releases. it is much slower than a heartbeat, slightly faster than normal breathing rate. It is more pronounced when standing, occasionally while sitting, never when lying down. I have a history of slightly elevated blood pressure but never anything severe, maybe 145 over 90 at times. Other than that no health problems to speak of. I've already decided to get it checked even though I think it's going to be a waste of time and money, the question is does this sound like something I should I hurry up and get checked or just get around to it when convenient in the next couple of weeks? |

These odd sensations sound to me like odd sensations. PM me for the correct speeling of my legal name for your will and your legal name for my bill.

May be a nerve twitch, in which case they will describe something like gabapentin.
I'd live with the twitch. |

Well, it sounds like there is an oil pressure valve in your thigh. Maybe they put that in there when they implanted the radio in your tooth. Hey, just a suggestion.

Not a doc but it sounds just like Sciatica - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, originating from lower spine.
Long sitting in the wrong position or chair probably stresses it, and/or weak stomach muscles or digestive problems could help pull things out of whack. I'm guessing, but it also be hip joint or tissue scarring/circulation/other of the muscle groups around it if not that. Long sitting is known for heart problems, eventually. The blood/lymph pools in the legs without circulating and getting filtered, then clots, breaks off, and ends up in the heart or brain. Try walking around every 15 minutes or so, sleeping with your legs elevated/back flat, and do mini-crunches and mini-leglifts to strengthen that area. The lady will also thank 'ya ![]() Last edited by john70t; 01-22-2011 at 03:31 PM.. |

Is that really necessary? That is what PARF is for. How old are you 13?

I always thought a dangerous drop in blood pressure was normal.

Funny you mention the phantom "cell phone in your pocket" feeling as I have the same thing. I wrecked my dirt bike into a tree about 7-8 years ago and along with the back/spine damage, I get weird sensations in my back, stomach and upper thighs.

it probably is not the femoral artery, tho some pains can radiate if none of the MDs here chime in, you should at least make an appt. to be seen by your PCP you have health ins. I assume & need a check up every year or 2 anyway - your health ins. co. can no longer deny paying for a yearly checkup as of Jan. 1 of this year so it is just the time & hassle of doing it that holds you back, i guess I finally overcame that time & hassle & saw my PCP (but no full physical, as he said the one in mid-2009 was close enuff)... so, make the appt. |
