I was scheduled to fly from Midway to Hobby, but I really didn't want to for few I'd get stuck down in Houston until the weekend. My flight was cancelled anyhow so now I'm getting tray for a day of clearing snow. The office is closed.

I'm in Milwaukee on business. Supposed to fly out today. That ain't happening. Our plant was closed 3rd shift last night and 1st shift, (at least), today. I have a 6' snow drift outside my hotel room.

Oh, and when I do get out of it I can experience it all again when I get home. Of course who knows when that will be.

Man, George, for years I hated living here because of the cold, and I still do hate the cold. But this doesn't happen every day, probably as frequent as the heavy rain and landslides in Cali or earthquakes....

...and eventhough Illinois is a step or two behind Kali in politics and poor governance, I'll stay here before I move to Kali where I get raped more often over my earnings and rights

Yikes.

I don't get why people stay in such a place. Same country, currency, languate etc. - just move south ...

The only reason people ended up living in cold climates was because the balmy spots were already taken by other tribes. Go north or get hit over the head. Nowadays that doesn't apply any more ...

The wind was a menace. 50+ mph gusts. I thought my roof vents were going to go flying. Haven't checked them since last night.

If it weren't for the wind it wouldn't have been so bad, but with the wind the plows were useless and forget shoveling or the snowblower.

I'm surprised you are working today, Bill. Most everything but the essentials are closed around here.

I'm heading to the office in a couple of hours if the plow fellas make a pass down my street.

Sure could use my Vue about now.

4 degrees here. It will be -7 tonight. The wind is only 15mph, which is better than the 30-40 yesterday. Record snowfall for one day. Nothing much is open. Post office is closed, the newspaper cancelled it's daily edition for the first time in 106 years. Dogs won't go outside.

Tell me again why people ***** about living in Southern CA?

Snow day for me in Lansing, MI. We have about 10-12 inches of snow and Delta Dental closed due to weather for the 1st time in their company history. My wife and kids are home, cars are all tucked in and nobody has to drive until the roads are clean, so that's good. I was concerned that the high winds would cause a power outage, but that didn't happen, so it's just a "snow day" for us.

As usual.... we got ripped off with only maybe 8" near Toledo wih a bit of sleet mixed in. I was really hoping for the 12"-18" they were forecasting yesterday.

Oh well.... Work was cancelled so at least I have the day off to play in the snow. With the high wind out in my rural wide open location, I only have a couple off drifts to plow... I can see grass in spots in the yard and stone in spots in my driveways.

Snowed here yesterday and got about 6in, forecast was to get another 6-8in today before changing to sleet and freezing rain. We ended up with about 2in before the change, been freezing rain for a an hour, supposed to end sometime this afternoon.

It's hard to tell from these pictures, but we're getting about 1-2 inches per hour now.

Last measurement at ORD a couple of hours ago was 19.5", but it is still coming down. Should end in a half hour or so. We will finish up well over 20", no doubt, followed by single digit highs. This absolutely, positively, 100% sucks! And there are people out on the roads/expressways heading to work presumably! Are you effing kidding me? No work, unless essential (medical, police, fire) is that important that anyone should be on the road in the Chicago area today. Some people are just unbelievable. Pretty irrisponsible and life endangering if you ask me.

STAY HOME!!

Buckterrier you should be able to leave by tomorrow depending upon conditions in CT.

I'm in the western burbs of Milwaukee. Once the snow stops and the wind starts dying down life gets back to normal fairly quick. Last time it was this bad snow and windwise was twelve years ago (Jan 1999). Hit on a Saturday/Sunday and everyone was back to work on Monday.
I probably got 15 to 18 inches total since Monday. Hard to tell after all the wind.

Front walk before shoveling

After, the drift is just over 3ft., higher ones in the backyard.

The end of my drive. The bump in the snow bank is my mailbox. One of my neighbors just called to say they plowed out my drive for me so all I have left is the sidewalk and digging out the mailbox.

T-shirt and shorts here. In my egocentric world, I just assume the weather is nice everywhere. Apparently that's not true - especially with the ice. Stay warm.
