All This Snow...It Ain't Right I Tell Ya, It Just Ain't Right!!!

The kids haven't had school since Tuesday! North Texas is not at all equipted to deal with ice or snow. The ice storm came in Tueday night dumping a sheet of ice two inches thick on the roads. No way to clear it. We don't have sufficiant salt or sand to do the side roads. heck the highways are a sheet of ice! Last night the snow came back and dumped 4 inches. It is still snowing.

Below is a pic of a road that Stomachmonkey and I take to Dallas (FM 2499) - mostly all ice save for a somewhat clear path that comes and goes.

Here is look out our front door...

And a pic of the pool. The poor palm trees! I tried to protect them as best I could with burlap. They just don't like snow and ice. The kiddos want me to heat the pool are at least the hot-tub. Hmmm, could be fun?

Here is where I shall be for the next few days...it provides a nice warm view of the outside at a comfortable 72F.

This is the snow drift in the parking lot at my office. This is NOT the deepest part of the drift, it is where I dug a path to get into the building. I shot these photos yesterday while the sun was out for a little while.

And it is snowing again right now, and a big band is on the way. We have another major storm coming next week.

Hey Mike,

I guess it depends whether you are prepared (or not).

Here's what it looked like after your storm came a couple of thousand miles North and East.

Stay safe.

Looks like you were heading home. That's the spot where I got caught in that Tornado a couple of years back when it was still a 1 lane.

Same road 5 miles further south just at the Denton line.

Getting to my development.

Wow !
I used to live in Portales NM and checked the temps over the last couple of days. They got a small dusting os snow but the real issue is the natural gas shortage affecting power & heat.

Clovis had a High of 54 degrees on Jan 31

Then it got real cold with winds speed of 20 to 30 MPH

Feb

1st High 10 Low Zero

2nd High 6 Low -4

3rd high 17 low -8

4th High 21 Low 1

Makes a good argument to let Philly host a Super Bowl. It's warmer here and our roads are in slightly better condition.

This place is filthy with SUVs and pick-up trucks. They are powerless on ice.

Here is a pic of a local cop car - our Son saw it and said "Dad! Check it out, looks like he has bungie cords on the back! Hay, aren't those cars front wheel drive?"

I don't think they are front wheel drive but it would be pretty funny if they were!

BTW - thats a sheet of ice.

StoMo - I know that road all too well! I feel bad for the folks up in Castle Hill North of us - that hood has a few large hills that are impossible to drive on due to ice. I don't even think a track vehicle would be any good.

Out the front of my place at 9:00 AM. Don't let the sunshine fool you though, it's a frosty 45 degrees out there. Cold for around these parts, I tell ya.

Main road out of Lantana is not passable. There's a hill just before the Justin intersection that people are getting half way up an sliding back down.. Need to use the side exits.

I just did a real smart thing, went out to take pic of the hood/house, got half way down my drive and wound up flat on my back. Looks like someone massacred a snow angel. Ouch, time to go soak in the jacuzzi.

Didn't know iPhones could take pictures upside down in mid air.

Crown Vic's are rear wheel drive...

It was over 60 here last Friday and Saturday, and then -13 on Wednesday when I woke up. We had over a 70 degree swing in the temperature in 3 days...
