In other words, $$$$.

Plusd you gotta admit, iffn you were gonna get paid to engineer something it might as well be really cool like that thing as opposed to a kia or scion.

If it doesn't have a piston engine it's just not a car. Sorry.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least partially sponsored by the british gubmint.
IIRC the last one had the union jack on it and the "driver" was an active duty british military pilot.

I don't think it's actually IN it. It's part of the AGE - or in this case you'd call it GGE.
The addition of the Cosworth name for the APU power plant really makes me respect this effort - it's one thing to come up with an engineering crew, but these guys seem to have a really good marketing crew too. Think of all the enthusiasts who poured their heart, soul, and life savings into doing something like this and were never heard of. These guys will be famous and make money even if they fail. It's the 21st century concept of success.

Old man Darwin is keeping a close eye on this on for sure. This has got the potential to the greatest Darwin event of all time.

As others have said......Why?

The "driver" is really just a monkey being shot across the floor of the desert in a rocket.

Big deal

The other contender actually is. An F-104 with the wings removed and wheels installed.

There is another category where the vehicle has to be powered by the wheels. I think the last Land Speed Record holder in this category was in the mid-60's.

I remember an AWD (Bluebird???) powered by shafts from a jet engine, maybe?
