holy moly

MY Bruins showed some backbone there last night!!! Very entertaining hockey game. I am a Bruins fan for the time being !!!!!

I don't know how comfortable the Bruins can feel giving up 10 goals in 2 games. Giving up 5 on a "rebound" game to boot. The last 3 minutes of the game they were seriously looking into having the game go into overtime after leading by 3 in the 3rd. I'm not a Tampa fan, but I do like their talent and skill level. It's just plain fun to watch.

Expecting much from Tyler Seguin, aside from not making huge gaffs, is unreasonable and unfair. He might do something, but it's highly unlikely. A good game from him will be one in which his line isn't scored on and he goes totally unnoticed.

If they want to win this series they need to:
1) keep out of the sin bin,
2) give Seguin more ice time (he has energy and Bolts defense doesn't know his patterns yet) and,
3) pray that Thomas comes back (as he usually does after an embarrassing game).

At the risk of sounding like Tabs... if you guys would just listen to me... 2 goals and 2 assists. All he needed was 2 fights and he'd have had a "double Gordy Howe Hatrick"

Great game. As Guy Boucher said "pond hockey". I only wish it had ended 6-3. That way the B's would have had a bigger psychological edge from a decisive win.

That's great! You made my day. To the rest of the unbelievers: embrace it. Resistance is futile!

Trivia: Gordie Howe only had three of those in his lifetime.

Seguin's first goal was weak D but a nice play on his part. His second goal shouldn't have gone in. Not to take anything away from him.

Suddenly Bergeron's concussion is less problematic. Except they need a center who can win some draws.

Por_sha911 05-18-2011 08:44 AM

Even tho Gordie only had 3 in his career, Mr Hockey was consistently out there giving 110% out-hustling the opponent. If there was a goal or a fight, chances were good that Gordie was in involved.
Seguin's first goal last night was a nice move splitting the D and a great high stick side shot. A great highlight reel move. The boy can skate and the D wasn't ready for his moves.
With all due respect to those that know more about the game than me, assumptions like "he was lucky" or "that goal shouldn't have gone in" remind me of an expression I have concerning sales: The harder I work, the luckier I get. The kid has energy and apparently, he's used his off-ice time to get better. Lest we forget, he did score 11 goals and 11 assists in his short time as a rookie.

flatbutt 05-18-2011 08:59 AM

there were a few pretty moves last night. the spin-o-rama was very much in evidence. both keepers took a beating though. this is going to be very, very entertaining.

did you guys see that Carcillo is suspended for the first two games next season? the guy needs to just stop talkng.

Por_sha911 05-18-2011 09:03 AM

Carcillo has made a very nice living being the one everyone hates. Avery learned to shut up a year or two ago.

flatbutt 05-18-2011 09:05 AM

yeah I noticed that too. I think Carcillo has some great skills but man he's a chirper.

Looks like Seguin can play a little bit. Boston tried & managed to make the last few minutes interesting. Me, I am getting 'pysched' up for tonight's match-up.

Cheers
JB

The reality is goalies make mistakes a too. The first goal, sure, nice play. On the second one I think most goalies will agree it should not have gone in. But it did.

p.s. That is an old expression. I haven't heard that expression since my father died. He was born in 1912.

It was a soft goal but he took a quick shot on goal and the placement was good. "There is no such thing as a bad shot on goal during the playoffs".

Almost sounds like a little preemptive Stanley Cup trash talk to me. Keep telling yourself that Seguin is no threat. In fact, tell the Bolts don't worry about defending him to much. After all, he's a 19 YO rookie. How much can the kid do anyway?
Bonne chance tonight.

JJ 911SC 05-18-2011 05:23 PM

Tough &^%$#@ crowd...

I'm no fans of the Bruins but discrediting a 19 years old rookie who got 3 goals and 3 passes in 2 games is a bit over the top :rolleyes::rolleyes:

A 19 year old won the scoring title once. 61 goals (maybe, not 100% sure).

And Crosby came close at that age.

Seguin has six shots, three goals. If he can maintain his league leading 50% shooting percentage I will recant my comments on the goaltending.

Without Kessel the Leafs would have finished last overall, so they would have had Tyler or Taylor, their choice.

And now back to discussing teams that participate in the playoffs....

If he maintains that average, he would be declared worthy to rule the known world. I would be happy if he scores a point or two every game. He scored 6 points in his first 23:09 of ice time in the playoffs (the Eastern finals no less).
