Congrats to the Mighty Peg!
Winnipeg finally has a NHL franchise again.
I hope the fans support them well!

If you are a hockey fan in Atlanta, my condolences for losing your team. Perhaps the third time is a charm?

OK, I'll play along...

The Vancouver Canucks got 17 Canadian players and The Boston Bruins... got 17 Canadian players as well.

Both coach's are French Canadian that coached the Hull Olympique.

They were teammate when they played for Salt Lake Golden Eagles in the early 1980's.

May the best team win :)

JJ: I had to blow up the avatar to see what it was - I have that same photo without the frame.

Congrats to Winnipeg. I wonder who will become an Eastern league team???

I hope the Sedin sisters are ready for #33 tomorrow night.

Who's # 33 ????? Ya everybody called them the sisters but not anymore, they have proven then selves durable, they don't whine like Skidmeat Crosby, they are bigger than most people give them credit for, 210 or so and they are the leagues leading scorers for 2 years in a row, Hart Trophy, Pres. Cup, probably the Conn Symthe too.
I'll take that bet even though I don't know how to do the avatar thing. When the Canucks win all you'll have to do is change your signature to "I love Gary Bettman" I would never force a man to change his colors, thats mutinous, thats treason, thats just too low in my book, but
You can't skate with us
You can't score with us
You can stop the puck like us
Like I said "slim to none"

Por_sha911, we may not agree on the out come be we have to agree its great to be in the final, hang onto your hat laddie cause its going to be great. Go Canucks Go

By turbocarrera: just throwin' it out there!
By & large, Gallagher's comments in his article could be taken with a grain of salt. The fact remains during the season there were a couple of 'reviewable player conduct incidents' involving Bruin players that resulted in a favourable Boston 'slant' which some folks call into question. There is also the feeling out here, the Canucks were not 'getting the calls' in any of the previous series (the blown icing call - Game 5 vs the San Hosers notwithstanding - we're talking rule infractions here). I too say as 'turbo' - "just throwin' it out there". Whatever the case, I feel the "Hockey Gods" smiled upon the Canucks, considering the outlandish bounce on Bieksa's double OT winner, & they have decided in their infinite wisdom - This is the Vancouver Canucks Time! Sorry Joe, my Friend, your 'Broons' are goin' down in 6!

Cheers
JB

Who is #33? Nobody. Don't worry about it. Just keep your head up when you are at the boards http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1306961751.jpg and don't block too many slapshot from large defensemen.

"I love Gary..." under your avatar for 30 days after the Cup is hoisted. Its extreme but you got a deal.

"You can't do this...you can't do that...blah blah blah." The Canucks don't have the heart and determination of champions. Any team that made it this far has the skills. The winners have the mental focus. I won't bring up that your goalie is streaky versus TT's NHL record setting .938 goal against average, Bergeron's face-off wins are almost 10% higher than Kessler (and he has great memories from the VanCouver Olympics), Lucic will feel like he is playing at home in either city, and your top scoring twins didn't show up for how many games? Its all about the mental toughness and like with Tampa, when the Canucks flinch first the Bruins will win. That said, we agree its great to be in the final!

My experience has been that over-compensation shows up more than favoritism. Too many people watching and waiting to accuse them. The refs have been so off this year it would be hard to tell if they are slanted or still needing a seeing eye dog. I just hope we don't have gaffs like it taking 5-10 extra seconds to call the puck dead, missed high sticking to the face, and totally absurd misconduct calls because a player player with the puck decides to turn his face to the boards just as the check is coming in at full speed. It really sucks when a ref determines who wins a cup game.
Keep your head up and (as Redd Green would say) keep your stick on the ice!
Its SHOWTIME!
:D

flatbutt 06-01-2011 05:25 PM

key-riced...just because the Bs PP sux you shouldn't take so many penalties!

Vonzipper 06-01-2011 07:35 PM

I think Van is the better team overall, a little short on the backend with injury doesn't help

Sorry for your loss - NOT
Read an interesting stat this morning, 77% of teams that win the first game in the final win the cup & 83% of home teams that win the first game win the cup, like I said Boston has a chance but it's slim to none. Both goalie's played great from what I saw and read, only got 3/4's of the first period then we lost the feed on the dish from heavy rain in the jungle. The Canucks might be better off shooting on the ice to beat TT, and to put Zedno ( thats how we say it up here, not Zeeno ) is a mistake, sure he's a good screen but will probably block a lot of his own shots. He reminds me of Roberto Duran - fists of stone, well Zeeno has hands of stone, no touch with the puck, for cryin out loud Raffi has a better touch, as you probably saw. Has Zeeno been in front of the net with any sucsess in the other series? 3 defense men on the ice for a power play - what fool thought that one up? Oh sorry, it was your Coach.
Just keep repeating to yourself, I love Gary Bettman, I love Gary Bettman...
Don't mean to rub it in, OK OK yes I did - But all in good fun.
Finn

Por_sha911 06-02-2011 06:13 AM

Finn: somehow I knew I'd find something from you this morning. It was a great game and it played out exactly like I expected except it was suppose to be a Boston goal. Oh well. Funny thing, Boston has lost first games before and everyone was looking for a shovel to dig their grave. Not so fast. It's best of 7 and the B's don't quit. I agree that Chara is better off in the back but they're trying to do something different to get the PP jump started. They won't get far if they have to kill PP's and not score any PP goals of their own.
Turbo: that is old news. The hit was declared legal. Time to move on.
dentist190: That is funny. Reminds me of the phrase "with friends like this who needs enemies".

Por_sha911 06-02-2011 07:55 AM

Canucks: a reall class act!

Por-sha, what did you think about the bite? Put 2 angry Quebec'ers on the ice and anything can happen. Heard the is going to be no suspension, informal hearing is what I heard, BTW they are expecting a 1 game suspension on Vancouver radio.
Can TT be beat with shots on the ice?
Finn

That is absolutely the coolest story I've read in a very long time!

Based on what I saw last night, this is going to be an awesome series with a really cool outcome!

Por_sha911 06-03-2011 06:06 AM

Every hockey commentator I heard said "this has to be a one game suspension because..." As I said earlier: "over-compensation shows up more than favoritism" when it comes to rulings. It wasn't a game changer but in my totally unbiased opinion it should have been a 1 game suspension.

JJ 911SC 06-04-2011 03:38 AM

Uh Oh

I think these guys will need some dental work... Beantown braces for arrival of Vancouver
