Tasteful Men's Jewelry

My daughter took this pic at a St. Patrick's Day party. The ring was made from the guy's deceased mother's glass eyeball. And he's dead serious about it (no pun intended ).

Creepy mofo, dead serious or not.

And her calcified yellow toenails as a necklace...

Men's jewelry?

My wife likes jewelry. It took me a long time to understand why.
Jewelry plays to a woman's insecurity and fragile self-image.
Having jewelry matters only because it is expensive and hard to obtain. That makes it special, and if they have jewelry it makes therm feel as if they are special in some way. Totally irrational, totally insecure, totally opposite of how I expect rational men should behave.

less is more...

So he behaves as if his mother is always watching him, and she is!

First, there is no "tasteful" men's jewelry. None.

Second, the eye ring shows how fine the line between "coolest thing EVAR" and "uncoolest thing ever" can be.

Ring with mommy's eye = very creepy and uncool.

Ring with the eye of the mugger who attacked you at midnight with a knife, and you killed using Kung Fu = COOLEST THING EVAR!

May or may not be tasteful, but can certainly be useful. Particularly service academy rings.

Best,

Our head sensei in Japan considered eyeglasses to be jewelry. Whenever he visited and we would test for our next rank I had to test blind!

Only acceptable:

Watch
Wedding band

Temporary stuff, like the friendship bracelet your kid made you at camp, is okay.

Also - no gratuitous metal or stones in the clothing. No rhinestone jacket, spiked collar, studded belt

I must agree. Watch, wedding band and nothing else. We can talk about formal dinners and such, but for daily wear I just can't support anything else.

And no tell-tale tan lines showing that you recently removed your pinkie ring, jangly bracelet, pearl necklace, etc. In fact, any tan other than a farmer's tan is suspicious.

That's not tasteful. It's probably a good birth control device.

Only tasteful jewelry for men? Modest wedding ring and high end watch.

Yep, wedding band and a watch. I also wear a little cross around my neck, but that's personal and not readily visible.

However, lately I've been thinking of stepping up my attire for occasions with cuff links. At this point in my life I feel like it's the next little intricacy to add on an nice dinner out with my wife or some such opportunity. Buttons on the cuff are starting to feel, well, like they need cuff links...
