Well we cancelled our cable TV

Saving $70 a month. I really only watched F1 which I'll watch online now. Wife and 15yo daughter are having a hard time. I bet her grades go up.

My how times have changed. I remember watching that big black and white console when I was a kid. Three or maybe four channels on a good night.

I have contemplated it - Netflix provides me with quite a bit of entertainment and the NBC and other channels post their episodes of most sitcoms that I Watch reasonably quick enough.

I can do Netflix and movie rental through my Tivo and my XBox and my Wii - I'm wondering why exactly I need cable too.

I'd like to cancel our DirecTV, but my MIL lives with us and has nothing better to than watch tv all day. That's $116, with all the movies we get, down the drain every month.

We cancelled our about 6-months ago because we were fed up with the increasing costs. Most of the shows we watch are available online and those that we can't get we typically get from netflix. I can't imagine how much time I freed up from not watching random cable shows

We cancelled cable almost ten years ago, and haven't missed it one bit.

Get a wii from a pawnshop for netflix, build a myth tv box w/ 2 dual channel hauppage cards, capture/watch 4 ota channels at once. Add hulu and other online sources and you should be set.

Tempted myself... but I can't live without a very few programs: An occasional good 1940's Film Noir on TCM, the PBR on weekends, and the Tour de France in July. A shame to pay close to $1000 a year for that! Maybe I'll have to re-think...

Haven't had pay tv in 15 years. 50 inch plasma brand new to boot. Have the digital arial set up, works great. Have a ps3 we can blue ray and netflix, but have never used the netflix. Whenever we go to a friends house with the big dollar cable and flip around it reminds me why we don't pay for it.

Good For you. Mines gone after March madness. The only reason why I got dish 2 years ago was because my mother came to visit and I had to have HGTV so she wouldn't drive me nuts.

10years x 12months x $60/mo= $7,200 saved.
I am done with paying money to watch commercials. This also applies to many things in life.

Statistically, what are the odds of 5-10 channels in a row having commercials?

I've found that too. Maybe they do that on purpose???
The only thing I watch now is Myth Busters on Discovery but even that is getting a bit boring.

I cancelled cable about two months after my t.v. died. That will be 5 years ago this August. I miss the ability to watch DVD's - still no t.v.

"rabbit ears"

I have a friend in California who uses this antenna with her HDTV television.

She claims she gets 23 channels, and as they say, "That's inconceivable!"

RadioShack Amplified HDTV Antenna : Indoor Antennas | RadioShack.com

If you don't have an HDTV television, apparently you can use this antenna in conjunction with a converter box (to convert the digital signals).

Have never had pay tv at the house; did subscribe a few years at the shop, cancelled when it went over $20/mo.

Antenna, multiple signal boosters running two modern tv's and a converter box for my shop tv....... I have never paid for cable or satellite. Since the switch to digital, we get several local NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX and PBS channels/sub-channels along with a few other oddball stations. While I would enjoy Discovery, History channel etc, I waste too much time as it is and am better off without cable/sat.
