Another question for experienced mechanics
This is a pic of the thermostat housing on my Dodge 4.7. Does this look like a failure in the casting or is this just poor machine work?

Common problem, timing cover is disintegrating. You will likely find rust in the radiator and heater core with this issue. Coupled with a mysterious overheating issue that you can't seem to fix.
You need the cover, gaskets, pump and radiator flush with an entire cooling system flush. Not a fun project given where that cover is.

Research supports your reply. The dealer wants $367.00 my cost for the cover. e-bay has some from Allstar Automotive in Denver for $35.00-$70.00 but not being able to inspect it in person makes me a little leary to buy used.
