That's not surprising. The same could be said for any country is this situation. The crims won't hand in their guns. What they don't mention is most of the deaths by firearm where crims against crims. Drug deals gone bad etc.

Again, I advocate your right to carry but I disagree with scare mongering. There are many places in France for example that rival U.S areas for crime. As a tourist, you avoid those areas. Based on Sniper's view, you shouldn't go swimming in the ocean as you might get attacked by a shark, or holiday in Australia:

YouTube - Come To Australia!

Personally, i wouldn't go swimming in Australia. I don't like sharks, but mostly, i just don't like the water. I'm not a very good swimmer, and local currents and undertows- things i'm not familiar enough with to guard against- can get a guy like me in trouble real fast.

That is also not paranoid, it's just a fact.

The only difference between me or anyone else that carries or takes extra caution in life, is that we realize IT CAN HAPPEN TO ME.

It can. In my case...it can again.

It's not the sharks, or the salt water crocs that you've got to worry about. It's the dime sized irukandji jellyfish that can kill with a sting that you've really got to worry about. ;)

You're just reinforcing my decision.

Not really a water person, don't like pools either. Don't like the feel of chlorine on my skin, and i don't want to damage my skin in the sun either. I'm much more of a night owl.

Exactly! Then they lock in with several barbed arms. Only one way to get them out if they don't kill you...

And there are warning signs where irukandji are and when it's their season. If you choose to go into their 'hood' when they are there, bigger fool you. Same goes for traveling. Head into bad areas expect trouble. Like I said before, there are parts of Paris that you just don't go to. Every place has its sh$tholes, just some have more than others.

I hate the tropics.

We should nuke the tropical areas of the planet.

Aren't the tropics known as the lungs of the earth. Don't think that'd be to wise.

I understand just fine. By carrying a weapon (or keeping a fire extinguisher) you prepare yourself for something you fear. It's perfectly logical and perfectly sensible. I do find it amusing that so many of you can't be honest and admit, "I carry a gun because I am afraid and the gun allays my fear."

No, you choose not to understand the definitions of words and the logic of those you disagree with. My 4 year old grandson does that too.

Something I have always found amusing is that people in good areas think they are safe from crooks. Seems to me that all but the stupidest and laziest crooks are going to the nicer neighborhood to steal.

No, not serious. : D

They can be deadly, but they don't involve themselves with penises. Well, not that I'm aware of anyway.

UconnTim97 04-12-2011 09:58 AM

I knew that they were deadly, but that is a brutal way to go. Glad to hear that you weren't serious. The thought of that combined with yesterday's thread on passing kidney rocks was too much. Lol. :)

krystar 04-12-2011 10:01 AM

What are those? Immediate reaction is Newf but the hair is kinda short.

They look very similar to my last pooch, a Landser Newf/English Mastiff cross.
