Looking at the picture, I have no idea what reason they think your car hit the pole. Beside being BS, I think the statement below was very unprofessional. I hope you can get this straighten up.
"we looked at the photos (their estimator took) and it looks like you hit a pole so we're finding you at fault - tough luck [and by the way, we're going to jack your rates up now for an at-fault accident]".

Dan's right.....insurance costs more for less. We gotta pay for all those bean counters that are trying to screw us out of coverage. God I miss how simple Kaiser Permanente was compared to the asshats we have now.....

Well I paraphrased a little but that was the jist of it. I got a call back from the claims guy earlier who is (in light of the less-than-happy voicemail I left him earlier) going to let me send him my photos and a copy of the police report (never mind they're required to consider all available evidence prior to making a determination of fault - this according to the State Division of Insurance...)
Stay tuned... I smell backpedaling in the future. |

The twit is a D list comedy twat....aka Kathy Griffin level. Not funny, annoying and causes discussion, hence publicity.
I had a friend that had Geico....I road him hard on that. His comment was it was cheap. I asked if he had any pride. Never got an answer.

Progressive sux in a huge way. I deal with many insurance companies everyday at the body shop. Right now, we have an 05 Pacifica that was hit in the front and pushed everything back into the front of the motor. Make a long story short, they refused to pay $86 for a new water pump and instead located a used one for $25.00. I looked at him straight in the face and told him he was on crack. all he could say, was sorry, i have to do it this way, or I'll get fired.
I see things like this almost everyday.. unbelievable.. |

1. you could look at the video of the vehicles that came into that lot that day (and/or the previous day if cars are sometimes left there overnight) that were the same color... 2. and go in that garage every coupla days until you see same or similarly-colored cars to see if they have any damage in the rear (or any fresh-smelling paint/repairs.) Is there video of vehicles leaving/paying that might show the rear of the vehicle? From what you said, one apparently pays on exit, and it would make sense they'd have a shot of the rear of all vehicles so as to get the plate. I'm thinking... train station... a camera documenting what vehicles parked there has probably been mandated by Homeland Security.

I have recurring dreams of Flo from the Progressive ads happily being ganged by the viking hoard from the Capital One ad - including the goat and that leprotic looking guy. She bounces up in her usual perky fashion with her hair still perfect and her insipid smile still intact.

Consider me deterred. Three cars now, probably an additional two more within the next year or so.

Last summer, my car was totaled by a driver insured through progressive. It was about noon, downtown and the driver ran a red light and hit my car. I had plenty of witnesses that saw the other driver run the red. Progressive still fought me on fault. Really? I couldn't understand how being in an intersection on a green and being struck by a driver running a red was my fault.
I finally called my insurance company after a week and a half of that, and filed it through them. Within two hours, a tow truck was at my house to take my car to a shop for inspection. Next day, I had a check for my car. Then they went after progressive for their money. I have American Family, and I may pay a bit more, but they get it taken care of with minimal hassle. |

Can you expand a little more detail on why? Legal stuff?

Update: I've sent them the photos and copy of the police report which clearly states that the incident is being investigated as a hit and run and which lists me as "victim". I'm told that progressive is "reconsidering the finding of fault".
Ironically my policy is up for renewal literally tomorrow night at 11:59. Don't "reconsider" too long guy... Tick, tick, tick... (like I'd really renew with them at this point even if they apologized and sent Flo and her sister over to double- down on me...) The next step is a hearing before A board of insurance regulators, which I'll definitely do if this doesn't go my way. I'd have to take time off of work though, etc. (grr) |

Correct. I have known 2 people that have felt wronged by companies... each time, there were threats made to negatively affect the companies' business. In both cases, there were lawsuits filed. One of them will probably result in prison time.

I would never (unlike them) say or write anything not factual. If they really want to make a bunch of lawyers rich going after me for informing the public about nothing more than the simple realities of their business practices, I welcome it.
Besides, going back to prison might not be too bad. I miss some of those guys...

LOL, since when does "factual" stop a crazy DA with a hard-on from coming after you, and finding the guys in black t-shirts busting down your door? Just not worth it, is all I'm saying.... you have to pick your battles

So you're saying to go out and buy the most expensive insurance?
Don't mean to be a smartass but seriously, what other basis of comparison is there when shopping for insurance? Reputations and experiences vary wildly by person. Person A might've had a horrible experience with so-and-so while Person B had a great one.... Or never needed to make a claim so has no knowledge of how their company might be when needed... Its a real crap shoot. Yea I know that certain companies like the progressives and geicos of the world are more cost-control oriented than some others and logically this means one MIGHT expect to encounter more resistance/scrutiny in making claims, but outright accusations of lying and borderline fraud? That's another matter and in an entirely different region of the sleaze-o-meter. I can't see why anyone WOULDN'T go for the least expensive insurer barring those who simply aren't trusted or deemed credible for whatever reason (will vary by person). I'd even speculate that perhaps my next claim with progressive might have been a simple, easy process during which I was treated fairly. Who's to know? Luck of the draw in whether or not you get a douche for an adjuster or not... And there's an entire spectrum of douchery ranging from mild to extreme. Just some thoughts. I won't be using progressive again regardless of the good people they undoubtedly have working for them (I'm sure some are great). Unfortunately they crossed the line with me, betrayed my trust, attempted to besmirch my reputation and tried to harm me financially - I've got good reason to say "see ya" as I see it. |

They're all going to screw you, why not save what you can? Oddly enough I've been fairly happy with Geico. One claim handled quickly, cheap rates that don't go up with every statement, friendly helpful folks on the phone when I make changes.
