Buying a BMW MOMO adapter and seller wants Wal-Mart transfer...

I've been looking for a MOMO steering wheel adapter for the 1991 318is and a guy on the M42 Club forum said he has one. He has 22 posts and sent me a pix of it and his address, but he wants to be paid by Wal-Mart money transfer. Says he's old school and doesn't do Paypal. I Googled his name, etc, but came up with zilch. I know paypal has its problems, but I've never bought a part via Wal-Mart money transfer. It just seems to scream Nigerian scam.

It's $55 shipped and it won't break the bank, but I don't like to be ripped off for a penny.

Thoughts?

Don't even think about it. Or just mail me a check for $55. At least you have an idea who I am and I'll spend it on booze.

Send it to me, I'll give $5 to Korean orphans, $20 for a bj behind a dumpster, and $30 booze (good stuff). You'll practically be a philanthropist, supporting little Korean kids, toothless hookers, and a skilled administrator of your charity.

Tell him you will send a Postal Money Order, if he doesn't send it, it is then a federal offense..

I hear ya, but in speaking to my local PM, he said nothing would be done unless it's a large amount of money.

Is the 2001 image clipped from somewhere?
Can you find it?

Some ideas:

Send the money to another Pelican and have him pick up the part with cash.

Have him send you a picture of the hub and his driver’s license (all in one image).

Confront him with the 2001 image fact.

Best,
Grady

If you're uncomfortable, stick to what your gut is telling you and look for another hub with a transaction you're comfortable with.

I've wondered how to determine if the pix was taken from somewhere else. There's no http, etc. that I can find/determine. For all I know his camera date is off.

If someone lived near there, I'd go the route of having them pick it up.

BTW Grady, here's another line that I saw in a shop"

You do realize that these are only $20 more brand new from our host, right? Seems like a lot of effort and stress to save $20.

Yes, I realize they are $20, PLUS shipping. It's not like the part can wear out, so I'm looking to save where I can.

You working stiffs forget I'm looking for work.

I've got a 911 MOMO adapter I'd trade for one or sell out right.

BTW: I think I found one today for $35, plus shipping ($5.95 - $10.95 USPS).

Can you upload the original image to TinEye to do a reverse image search?

Save the image in your e-mail to the desktop, then go to TinEye and click on Upload Your Image and go from there.

I totally understand about saving money, but should you gamble $55 to save $20? I don't buy when my gut says no, it's yet to lead me astray.
