The only 'measuring' I care about is what my family thinks. If my children grow up to become great men, then I have achieved the true 'measurement of a man', in my eyes. Anyone can be a dad, but it takes great time, love and forgiveness to be a father.

The success of a man...to a child growing up with nothing and working hard to make something of himself, the definition of success is different. I.E. going to bed with a full belly and having money to pay the bills. To a man who grew up surrounded by people who valued material possessions more that anything else, his definition of success is different. Me personally, providing a comfortable life for my family, treating others with respect, getting respect back, knowing that, because of the seeds I have planted there is always someone out there I can count on. Having served in the military for 20 years I can tell you that it is a lonely world out there when all you have is yourself and/ or your spouse with no one else to count on when you need a hand. And by needing a hand I am not talking monetarily, I am talking moving furniture at 10 at night, help lifting the transmission back in the car, lending of a truck to take bulk garbage to the landfill. Our flesh is mortal and is only here for a brief moment in time; our spirit is what will live on. How we treat people while we are in the flesh will determine how long our spirit will survive. Treat people good and your memory will last forever, treat people bad and you are forgotten the moment your casket is buried. If my spirit lives forever I have achieved success.

I fondly remember the day my sister frantically called while I was getting dressed up to go to a graduation ceremony. She asked to borrow a universal clutch alignment tool because she had to put the transmission back into her 240Z to drive it to campus. She was being awarded her Phd that afternoon.
She didn't ask for help. She just wanted to borrow the right tools. Any girl who can put a clutch in a 240Z and pick up a Phd in language education on the same day is a man in my book.

Our Western thinking has us asking ourselves:
"Am I successful?". But getting back to the basics of human nature, a far more relevant question is: "Am I significant". With success, we measure ourselves, either against our own potential, or against others. With Significance, we are measured by others, a far more important standard. |

That's the same idea I've always lived by, for so many years.

I don't think there is only one (sole) measurement, rather there are multiple measurements, given that we are multidimensional. Two that I consider the most important are honesty and compassion for others.
And penis length. And diameter.

Moses, my GF works in a couple of urology clinics. She has a Penis Size Chart hanging on her wall at home. She tells me that size doesn't matter, but apparently it matters to condom catheters.

There is no sole measurement of a man, more to us than that. Besides, what is important to one, is not important to another.

Voracity for life. I believe that is what defines a man, and whether or not he was able to do 'something' with his allotted time.

Doing the right thing especially when it is hard, and especially when it benefits others instead of yourself.
Sacrificing, doing without, working hard when you don't want to, resisting shallow temptations and materialistic wants, donig the responsible thing instead of the "fun" thing, those make the difference between a man and a boy. |
