Liking the music - thanks for sharing...

Gal is pretty but not a knockout. She definitely looks too wholesome to be skankin around in rock videos though. It was pretty forced.

That song's lyrics must've been written by tabs - they're about as cheery and optimistic as the crap he writes. Good song as a work of art though. I dig it. They've got potential.

Did you just stumble across that? All American Nightmare is pretty 'hard' for them.
They're good muscians. A few fellas in Hinder Music are friends of ours. They're a hard partying bunch of Oklahomans!! Especially Blower, the guitarist -- keep your daughters away.

Anyway, if you like Hinder, here's their new song. Not hard rocking. Almost Country-ish. Video was released a couple weeks ago. I think it's great....

On that note, THANK YOU Ke$ha and Lady Gaga for encouraging our young women to be dirty, skanky sluts!
Ke$ha was just a kid in shorts and a T-shirt. That didn't seem that out of the way to me. The subject of the song was a bit much, but her wardrobe didn't seem nearly as bad as some of the stuff that you may see at the mall. I'm not that into the style of music that she sings (I hesitate to call it R&B or Soul, but then it doesn't seem like hiphop either). However, I watched the video to the end. I just couldn't click pause. I think if it was 20 years ago, I'd have probably been dancing to it on the dance floor somewhere.

LG, however is another story. I just don't get it. Neither her nor her music really does it for me. I understand though. She's the next Boy George, Kiss, Madonna, Marilyn Manson, Gwar, David Bowie, Elton John, Liberace, Prince, etc.... In these days of video more than ever (but it still happened before MTV) a gimmick (often visual) of some sort is often used by artists (whether talented or not) to attract attention. Hell, maybe it's the desire to attract attention that also drives these folks to do what they do. If you look at the list of folks above, most of them are talented and successful. I don't care if you like Prince or Madonna (etc...) or you don't. I have a hard time listening to anyone say that they aren't talented.

Yeah, kind of. I noticed that you said Kopek was touring with them, so I checked it out and ran across that song. I REALLY like them!

You seem to have to inside track on some of these more obscure, up and coming bands. Feel free to keep the recommendations coming! It is so refreshing to hear some new sounds in the genre that I tend to gravitate towards anyway. And I agree, some of these guys seem to straddle the line between hair band and alternative country, which works well for me!

Thanks,

JA

JA -- and anyone else who cares -- I'll slowly add a few bands who've been on tour with our friends this year.
Some you may have heard of, some might be new to you.

Adelitas Way
Las Vegas band, been around three years (?)
"Invincible" is WWE's official venue entrance song
New album "Homeschool Valedictorian" is coming out this week, iirc

Their newest release, "Sick"

"Last Stand"

"Invincible"

Photos I took 5/14 in Rockford, IL (it was raining and gross....lots of stories from that day)

Stone Sour

Fairly local band to me, from Des Moines, Iowa
Lead singer is also the lead singer for Slipknot, Corey Taylor
Their drummer, Roy, suffered a stroke a few days ago so they've cancelled their remaining tour dates
VERY good band, been around ten years now

"Through Glass"

"Bother"
(won't embed but well worth watching)
YouTube - ‪Stone Sour - Bother‬‏

"Say You'll Haunt Me"

"Hesitate"

Great stuff, Eric. The only one I had heard previously was Bother by Stone Sour. Thanks for the new entries for my library. Looking forward to anything else you might throw out there...I'll listen to all of it.

Thanks,

JA

Seether

Been around a long time, but....
Lead singer/guitarist Shaun Morgan
Very talented, very troubled
Shaun's brother committed suicide a couple years ago
He used to date Amy Lee, from Evanescence
New album just came out last week (Couple great tracks, some so/so)

"Broken" w Amy Lee (easily their most famous song)

"Remedy" (very Nirvana-esque)

"Gasoline" (my favorite, esp live, very heavy)

"Fine Again" (about his brother's suicide)

"Country Song" (off their newest album "Holding On to Strings Better Left to Fray")
Lame video.... if you search for their acoustic version on yahoo music, that's cool

Seether

Photos I took at the House of Blues in New Orleans and at the Valarium in Knoxville, TN
Sorry for the quality, they're all phone shots
We've seen Seether so many times we don't really take photos much anymore

Here's the acoustic performance of "Country Song", better than the stupid video with toy horses:

My Darkest Days

These guys are good friends of ours
From Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Matt Walst, the lead singer, is the brother of the bassist (Brad) from Three Days Grace
Their album "My Darkest Days" is great, start to finish
They were discovered by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback
Incredible live, Sal is an amazing guitarist, tight harmonies

"Porn Star Dancing" (their #1 single, a huge hit last year)

Their newest single
"Move Your Body" (this is a pirated low quality version, it's not out yet in the U.S.)
Almost everyone in the video is a friend of ours, including Kayla Ann, the redhead

"Every Lie" (their next single to be launched next month in Canada)
no video yet, so make due with this fan-made lyrics video

We have so many photos I'll be random:

Saving Abel

Very much like Hinder
But from Mississippi, and there's a difference
Good live, a lot of great tunes
Their new album Miss america just came out
They tour with Hinder off and on

"18 Days"

"Addicted" (clean version)

"Stupid Girl"

"Drowning (Face Down)"

"The Sex is Good"
(LOVE this song off their new album)
They haven't made a video but this is official

Another obscure band I've only seen live once, but was impressed

Taddy Porter

From Stillwater Oklahoma, been around about 3 years
Haven't had their big break quite yet
If you like Southern Rock, they're like the newer Kid Rock stuff but with better singing and guitar
Ugly dudes, but they can play

"Shake Me"

"Big Enough"

Have not heard anything here that I dislike yet!

1) A buddy of mine turned me on to that "Porn Star Dancing" song. Before I listened to it I was not thrilled as I thought it would be cheesy crap based on the title. But I had to admit to him that it was great, and the more I heard it the more I liked it. Their other stuff is good to.

2) Rev Theory - That "Hell Yeah" song was FANTASTIC! Downright motivated me to get outside and do something in the sun today! Their other songs are worthwhile too! Had not heard of these guys until you posted.

3) Saving Abel - I really liked "Drowning - Face Down"!! Also liked "Addicted".

4) Taddy Porter - Kind of smacked of a cross between Buck Cherry, Black Crowes and as you said, newer Kid Rock. Not bad at all...maybe a little "TOO" southern tone for me, but worth getting for sure.

After focusing on a few of these, I am reminded that I really lean towards those bands that have a competent singer, and real musicians in the band. That is why Kopek stood out for me...that guy has a voice! And that Hinder singer reminds me a bit of a young Steven Tyler...these guys have real talent!

Hearing some of this new music really energizes me. I have a lot of music, and some that I will always love, but it is great to get some new sounds! Keep it coming!

Sirius xm ch 37...Octane features all these bands. Seems like Root and Taylor can't catch a break w/bandmates. Lost Paul Grey (bassist Slipknot) to an od last year

how about Breaking Benjamin and Evans Blue...diggin both those bands too.
Same w/ Season's After (porsche content)
