Choppers

Anyone noticed the prices on these bikes on craigslist. LOL! $40k bikes going to $10-15k.

Can't say I feel bad watching the morons that bought those unridable pieces of utter douchebaggery take a $$$ bath. I suspect some life long HD riders feel the same.

I would opine that they weren't $40k bikes in the first place...$10k-$15k is generous...

I too have noticed the price drop. I knew they would. I have a hard tail springer chopper but I built it myself so I dont have a lot in it. I dont ride it very often but its fun once in a while. I dont know why the prices ever got as high as they did. People with too much money trying to look cool I guess.

An S&S 117 inch motor is 11,000 by itself. You can tie up alot of money in a bike if you want too.

Me and my riding buddies noticed this trend hitting critical mass about 3 years ago. So many "custom" assembly-line choppers. That was the same year another friend of ours paid 24K for a Texas Choppers Ironhorse. They all look exactly the same--super-wide rear tire, exposed primary, stretch front.

Most of the riders I see on these even dress alike--designer jeans, sleeveless shirt, boots, chain wallet, headband, hair gel.

Lots of 20K+ bikes being sold for 10K or less all day now.

But but but, haven't you seen orange county choppers? They said those bikes were cool on the show and they wouldn't lie to the public, so these people just HAD to go buy one.
Everyone else was buying them so they had to buy one too, just to be different!

Reminds me of the funniest south park episode ever, where the town was being over-run by wanna-be bikers with their loud pipes.
The riders thought that everyone saw them as cool because they were loud. The kids informed them that they were homos because they were so loud.
The bikers were shocked that anyone wouldn't think they were cool because they were loud and came to the conclusion that they weren't loud enough and had to make MORE noise to be cool.

They simply could not grasp the concept that so many folks think they are simply insecure attention-whore douchebags because of their obnoxiously loud pipes.

like everything else - some view ownership as a fashion statement - For comparison - look at the tailfins on late 50's Detroit iron - Hummers 10 years ago - all the same for some people

But as stated above good quality aftermarket parts for Harley's are $$$ ..........almost as expensive as "porsh" parts

Chopper Riders, all look the same trying to be different.

What do chopper riders and 18 year old girls have in common: They are loud and want to be noticed.........

I worked with a guy that cashed in his 401K about 5-6 years to buy a Big Dog chopper. He said it was going to be an investment.

"cashed"? or borrowed against? - If that guy actually cashed out his 401 he is a lot dumber than I ever thought I could be

Motorcylces stuggled with issues that automoble drivers left by the wayside many years earlier. Things like adequate lighting, reliable electrics, working suspension, smooth gear boxes, proper brakes, comfortable seats, ergonomic control placement, etc.

Choppers are the stone age equvilant to Fred Flintstone's car. They are pure image machines. Dissmal performance, Conestoga wagon handling, comfort, suspension and brakes.

The best way to turn gasoline into loud noise going slowly without all that bothersome horsepower.

The ONLY engine noise worse than a loud Harley blap blap blap is a Mazda rotary engine with no muffler. The day I am elected King I will ban them both from the earth.
