There are a lot of stupid people out there. If you're ever charged with a crime, go for a jury trial. If you've ever been a juror (twice for me, one a home invastion, double execution) you will appreciate this.

Reasonable doubt gets so screwed up by so many jurors.
It doesn't mean if there is a doubt that the person did it they're found not guilty, it means with all the evidence and testimony is there any reasonable doubt they didn't do it. I didn't watch the whole trial but this sure seemed to show there was only doubt she didn't do it and any reasonable person would conclude she did murder her child. I've been on two juries where my fellow jurors wanted it to be proved beyond all doubt that the defendant did it. Fortunately they were convinced there was enough evidence and testimony to convict. It made me wonder how anybody with a decent lawyer gets convicted. |
Can't wait to hear the juror interviews.
Just heard they are refusing to speak to media. Probably can't form a sentence. |
The jurors are prolly sleeping their cousins tonight......

I sat on a criminal jury a few years back. The guy was up on a rape charge and some other felonies. I didn't have much doubt, and we did convict him. But you really feel the weight of what your being asked to do. This guy was going to lose at least a decade of his life behind bars if we convicted.
Bad smells in a car? That doesn't sound like solid evidence to me. I've had rats/mice get into my cars over the years, and it can stink like hell. Was she involved in her childs death? Probably. But probably doesn't cut it. We voted to convict because we had damning physical evidence and multiple eye witnesses (including testimony from the victims shattered 14 year old daughter. Still brings tears to my eyes thinking about it) :( |
I agree with David. However, not guilty on any of the primary charges is absolutely crazy. We have listened and watched the entire trial, it is live here in Florida, and have seen all of the evidence. We did not follow any of the pre trial crap, just the evidence provided and are surprised of the verdict. No suspects to follow up with, she lied about everything and everyone. Unbelievable! But that is our system of justice, it works like that sometimes.

OJ is sitting in jail in NV, IIRC.

I'd bet the juror's greed in getting millions to tell their story prolly had more influence on their decision than the truth. She was guilty, no doubt of that. her stoopid-arsed mother is also guilty, of perjury and needs to be prosecuted. Perjury in a felony murder trial could get her 15 years and she deserves it. Our justice system is looking more and more like the one from the movie "IDIOCRACY" every day. |

So the Judicial appears as flerked up as the Legislative and Executive Branches. We are domed.

Not saying she's innocent by any stretch, but like Ury above, I mentioned here about a week ago that she's gonna walk. I'm sure the jury's not talking yet because they don't want to be hounded by the media, or if they're smarter than they appear, they're out shopping for a good literary agent as we speak.

Well guys, I guess I'll have to quit running my mouth about how tough we are on crooks in Florida. I think she'll get some time for perjury.

I don't know why anyone should be upset. Prosecutors lately have been filing cases with no more evidence than a theory of "if not the defendant, than who?". If a woman dies, the boyfriend, husband better just lawyer up.
Unfortunately, this was the prosecutors case - to say it was circumstantial is generous. To be circumstantial there has to be some connection. Inferences can be made , but they cannot be stacked. |
